I am really looking forward to this game
http://www.sega.com/games/aliens-vs-predator/
but im wondering should i get this for my desktop(in spec) or for my ps3? I know that this is a notebook forum so most people will say for my computer but please give a reason why i should get it for pc. If not, why i should get this for ps3.
Btw is there split screen for this game? if there is, im sold for ps3![]()

Always get it for PC.

i would say wait for it to come out first to see how itll run on your comp then decide. the knowledge i have about avp on paper though would tell me that the pc version will destroy the ps3 version in graphics. but a general rule of thumb would be as said above to always get the pc version assuming your comp can handle it. if you want to pre order you can get it from steam and they will give you another game for free as well to play while you wait for avp
-
Honestly, it just depends on the gameplay style, and the requirements. If it's another game that is better suited for a standard controller, go with the PS3. If it seems like it has a good, native feel for a control+mouse, then grab it for the PC. Like the above poster said, wait till it launches, and find out the perks for each system. Speculating about a future release is always gonna be an educated guess... just wait till the game hits the shelves. -
Well there is DX11 support, that would be worth it alone, but given your PC you will have to wait for that till you upgrade your card. I would also recommend waiting till it comes out, see how it runs first.
-
From what I've seen AVP will not have splitscreen; however, Aliens: colonial marines will have a cooperative split screen (similar game coming out in the same year).

PC for me for sure unless we find it to be some horrible console port but I dont think its going to be like that at all.
PC = Easy keyboard & mouse support the way I prefer to play FPS games
PC = More mods and community added content
Those two are just a given
Out in the air is if the graphics will be better on PC or PS3 and the answer to that is usually just it depends on your system.
The PS3 leaves you with no worries to system requirements or any other PC issues like crashes and virus or what ever.
Plus I doubt PS3 will be able to play it on 3 screens like my PC can
Another big reason I like PC better is that my games tend to stay with me. All about my room you will see Dreamcast games, PS2 games, PS1 games, I even have SNES games and stuff, and I cant play any of them because I do not have the proper console hooked up. I dont even have half the consoles anymore or lost some important part I need. So my games become useless.
For my PC game collection should I decide I feel like playing UT2004 all of a sudden a favorite game from like 3 or 4 years ago. I can just install it and play it on my PC no need to dig up an old console and have more wires & stuff around or find controllers and stuff like that. -
The older AvP games were programmed for the mouse and keyboard, if the current developers are catering a little to that audience then the controls will likely be customised towards that setup. Coupled with the OP's hardware it makes for a better gaming experience on the PC in my opinion.

You should wait and see if the game is a lousy port from Xbox 360 to PC / PS3, or if they actually developed three versions, one for each platform.
Just got Bayonetta for PS3 and its not as good as the Xbox 360 version. -
I'm thinking PC for the mouse and k/b combo. Those Aliens are bloody fast, I'd like all the help I can get in nailing the little b@stards.
Again, depending on your rig, you might want to get it on the console. I for one will be getting it on PC, not the biggest fan of FPS's on consoles (except for BF:BC). -
PC. This game usually is a hit at lanparties and we are all anticipating great things from my group here in the Carolinas.

Noticed that AVP is DX11!
Just wondering how a DX10.1 card (4870 CF for ex) would compare to a DX10 card (GTX280m SLI for ex) for this DX11 game.
Would there be any advantages utilized?
Will tesselation be there for DX10.1?
Im really excited about this game, and am currently in a dilema to keep my current card or go for the 4870s
Thoughts?

I would just get it for PC.
-
EDIT: nvm got my answer from the system requirements post -
For AvP I'd go with PC. It kind of bugs me because there already IS an AvP and AvP2 for PC, so this is a remake of sorts? Anyway, I'm fairly certain this will be gearted toward the same crowd that it's always been, people who like dark lan parties with lots of screaming and people crying out in fear.

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I think 3rd person action games are often better on PS360 and FPS is better on PC. Just my 2 cents. -
-
Which game is better? and is bioshock 2 open world?? Please tell me why you think one of them is better. I will probably play the SP but i usually play MP from the start.
-
Ask someone from the future please.
-
Exactly. Ask the question in about a month after both have been released and people have had time to chew on them a bit.
-
ok i meant which game do you thing is GONNA be better when they are released?? which one are you more excited for
-
Bioshock 2 for sure.
-
Both. AvP moreso since it sounds like BioShock 2 is more of the same, albeit great, gameplay. I plan on getting both eventually.
-
Both are sequels. Bioshock is just a sequel of a more recent game, while AvP is a sequel of an almost 10-year-old game.
Bioshock is almost a guaranteed winner. It's got tried and true gameplay that's been established since System Shock, and it's got an excellent writing staff capable of superb storytelling, and some very creative and effective environmental designers and artists. I don't see how they could fail in this sequel.
AvP, I understand, also retained most of the team responsible for the original, which had outstanding gameplay for its time. It's got great source material to make a very fun game to play, so again, I don't see how they can fail.
Ultimately, I think both will be A-grade games, but which one is better will be totally up to personal opinion.
So long as no one on either team screws the pooch and accidentally releases a turd of a game... it's happened before. -
which one do you guys think will have better multiplayer?
Just making sure, do you guys think my desktop will run it better than my ps3(or xbox360) even though its directx9?? Because the only thing that i heard is the advantage for the pc is support for dx 11. -
Will BioShock 2 even have multiplayer. I don't believe the original one did. Either way probably AvP. Just due to the prospect of three completely different ways of playing.

Ummm NO Bioshock 2 has no LAN or dedicated servers

but it has MP...read!
-
MP like MW2 it seems. Might be interesting. Considering the fact that they "didn't have time" for LAN or dedicated servers, something tells me AvP will be bar none the better MP experience. But I'll withhold judgement until the game actually releases.
-
-
it should run it better.... ur processor might be a problem but ur GPU is excellent... u know ur being very stupid to use xp... its old slow and lousy drivers... go get windows 7... gaming performance is better...
-
-
Demo comes out next week, supposedly. You can try it then and see how you like it for pc.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
IF you're on a budget... you can buy Bioshock 2 with 3 friends for $35 each on Steam. So there's an economical reason to pick one aside from all the hypothetical theories establishing themselves in this somewhat nonsensical and misinformed thread.
-
but i ve been looking forward to this game for so long now that i can't see how i won't like it.
-
I know that i made a similar thread before so sorry if im posting too much i guess. I just want to know which game you guys think will be the best. Even if you think that they are all going to be good, please try to pick one of them. If you can't decide, vote for "the are all going to be good"
EDIT: sorry its supposed to be Bioshock 2 in the poll not Bioshock -
Eh, I don't go for the super-realistic shooters, and my internet sucks too bad to let me play multiplayer, so I couldn't care less about BC2. AvP will most likely be very good, but it's always possible that it gets released with a few errant turds, making it smell of mediocrity.
With the awesome skill working on Bioshock, I can't see how they could go wrong. It's probably the most guaranteed winner, and even if it's just "more of the same", it's still up there. -
I want all plus Pripyat. Just will have to wait for discounts...
It's ok, I have to finish Mass Effect 1, Stalker Chernobyl, and Clear Sky first!
-
-
Wait, another AvP is coming out?

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
The demo of avp is coming out this thursday.
-
ive been playing a lot of BC2 Beta and i love it, i simply cant go back to MW2, so i guess my pre-order of Battlefield Bad Company 2 is what im most looking forward too.
-
My vote goes to Bioshock 2
-
-
The thing is do you want to play singleplayer or MP? I know Bioshock has MP, but we all know that it will be terrible and last 2 months. BC2 MP will last several years atleast. That being said, I love singleplayer games, but most of the time I get bored of them and end up playing the great MP games available to me.
Get BC2, find a clan/team and learn to aim, and have a lot of fun.
