Which will be better performing in your opinion?:
    1) AW M17 with cpu QX9300 and gpu ATI 4870 Crossfire
    2) CLEVO M98, same cpu and gpu NVIDIA 280 gtx SLI

    2) Clevo m98 will destroy the m17x imo.

Better cooling system, more stable driver support, newer gpus, more hard drive space. If Clevo allows it in the Bios it'll have much greater OC potential.

Not to mention It'll be cheaper.

^^ Like he said, theres really no competition. Sager is just a better value better performing machine, with a customer service department that understands the word service.

The 4870 don't exist yet, so it's hard to say.

Oh, and where are you finding an M17x with these specs?:

    1) AW M17 with cpu QX9300 and gpu ATI 4870 Crossfire

On the AW Page the best it comes with are the 9800gt's in sli and a x9000, which isn't even close.

Also the Asus w90 does have the 4870's and while they're powerful there seems to be pretty bad driver support as of now, but I'm pretty sure these would melt an alienware.

I saw in AW forum some M17x guys speaking about close upgrade from cross 3870 to cross 4870.

Once the GDDR5 version of the 4870 comes out in crossfire then you'll be able to tell but until then you can't really compare.

M17 and M17x are different laptops.

He put M17X on the title, but hes actually talking about the M17... In that case, if the 4870's have GDDR5 memory then id bet my monei on the M17 :D the GTX 280's are just a rebadge of nvidia's previous GPUs with higher clocks and more procesor cores, while the 4870's use new GDDR5 technology that will probably outperform the GTX 280's.

I think the same as you. The ati 4870 will probably eat the gtx 280.
