Can anyone explain why AW has the 675m as a $150 upgrade from the 7970m on the m17x? I thought the 7970m was the better of the two. And xotic pc has 7970 as a $100 upgrade over the 675m for the np9150. So which is the better card?

7970M is faster, Dell 580M/675M is more expensive than Clevo 580M/675M.

Dell uses higher quality ram on their 580M/675M vs Clevo. Same is true for their 7970M's. As for the pricing difference, could be based on what their supplier charges.

Is it higher quality or just easier to overclock? Or is that what makes it higher quality?

nah, 7970m is on the price range of 6990m, I guess dell just didn't change their pricing scheme given the same cost

Hynix (Dell, used in almost all desktop GPUs as well) vs Samsung (Clevo) So higher oc on memory with Hynix ram vs Samsung.

But for those of us that are either not planning on overclocking or just doing a moderate overclock is there really that much of a difference?

Its only a difference if your going to try to OC the memory, then Dell cards will OC memory higher. Performance at stock should be the same.
