Hi guys.
So I finally tried gta iv in my lap, the asus g51vx-rx05, and it runs incredibly laggy, about 5 fps. I tried with lowest details, and keeps the same way...
I've already played crysis, and it runs smoothly at high, same as brothers in arms and pes 2010.
When I upgraded to Win 7 I installed lastest drivers from Asus page, so I don't have a clue of what's happening.
Here are the specs:
Core 2 Duo p7350 @ 2.0 (No OC)
nVidia geforce GTX 260m
4 gigs of ram ddr2 800mhz
Appreciate your help![]()

Oh, maybe try a newer video driver driver from the nvidia page. Also make sure you get all the updates through games for windows live.
-
Do you have GTA IV patched to the latest version, 1.0.7.0? The performance you are getting sounds like release performance.
-
He should still be getting more than 5 fps though.
-
Yup, release version.
I think its thomething else thought.
It might be the drivers, but if lastest doesnt work uhmm.... -
Did you lower the draw distance setting?
-
So you turned down all the details but what resolution are you using? That can easily give you only 5fps if too high.
-
What temperatures are you getting in game? Is your GPU throttling? Is your CPU throttling? What is your CPU speed in game? Is your GPU running at full clocks? -
no, gpu and cpu normal temps, everything at lowest, i have no idea of what the problem is.
And i dont overclock, everything works normally, i can play any game as farcry 2 fallout 3, pes 2010, crysis, etc.
Ill probably return it cos im almost sure its not my comp -
Good luck returning it... Most stores will not let you return a PC game.

Try this tweak and see if it helps.

What exactly are your current settings in game?
-
everything LOW
-
lol just update it.. also ur CPU is a little too weak so OC it since BB CPU can be oced.
-
Yeah, sounds like you need to update the game. GTAIV was one of those console to PC ports that seems like it was done by a 5 year old...realll bad...if not the worst console port ever.
Update the game and OC the CPU if you can. GTAIV is not just a strong game graphics wise, but it also needs a very powerful CPU...through all the CPUs Ive been through with that gane my current quad core at 3ghz is FINALLY able to play the game smoothly. A lowly 2ghz dual core will always have a problem running the game...whether the game us updated or not. Sometimes a PC is just too slow to run a game...and I think this is your case. I KNOW that the GTX260m is up to the task, but your CPU is just way behind...really baffled why Asus would pair such a powerful GPU with that kind of CPU...really makes no sense. -
I fourth the update recommendation, you can't really say how performance is until you update as it does improve performance a lot.
overclocking won't help.
Your G50VT should be able to play the game fine, albeit a bit slow, at medium settings, so there's something wrong.
again: UPDATE, then get back to us. The updates FIX STUFF. -
If you do update, I recommend you try at patch 1.0.04 first.

(Don't have GTA 4 now, planning to get one though)
