    ...that have the x1600 card in them somewhere?

    And while on the subject, I've seen x1600 cards that say 256 (512 hypermemory), so in actuality they are hypermemory cards but they do have 256 built-in... so is this the case with all x1600 256mb cards or is this a particular model of it, and is there any performance decrease with such a card opposed to one with purely 256mb vram (ie, never tries to use hypermemory even if it is full).

    Poorly worded perhaps, but I hope you understand what I mean :)

    I get most of what you're saying. HyperMemory doesn't offer any real performance increase, it's more of a cheap way of advertising a card with more RAM than it actually has.

    The X1600, as powerful as it is, is still not powerful enough to use all 256MB of dedicated memory effectively, although it can use more than 128 for sure. It is well worth it to have 256MB of VRAM these days.

    Hypermemory won't make a difference on a 256MB card.
