    Hey guys,

I am thinking about buying this laptop. Just wondering if the graphic card on the laptop is in an MXM or upgradeable format? Anyone have experience with it?

I love how that laptop is an excellent gaming machine for less than 900 and still portable enough for me to carry around and will all the newest technology, like Dx11 support and Core i CPU!

    thanks

Also I found that Gateway NV5926u at Microcenter with the exact same specs and price...
    are they the same laptop?

if the gpu can be taken out and upgraded in both (if they just look different, but everything same underneath), then this really seals the deal!

Gateway is a subsidiary of Acer so they're pretty much the same but they stopped MXM support with the 5738G meaning no more upgrades. They probably got tired of ppl not buying new ones and upgrading themselves.

does you have any experience with gateways? would the upgradability and moddability be better with the Acer or the gateway?
    Thanks!
im planning to head over to microcenter tomorrow, but if Acer is better in terms of mods and upgrades (like unused PCIe slots etc.), then i'd go with Acer

I had been wondering the same thing since I will eventually be getting this laptop. Based on this post, unfortunately it appears that the GPU cannot be replaced.

well now im thinking about the Gateway NV5926u at microcenter. since Acer owns gateway, I don't see why they won't share the same internals.

but the gateway is 5.84 lbs compared to Acer, which is 6.16lbs.
I'm wondering what caused the difference?

Does anyone know if Gateway's bios limits overlocking capability or something else compared to the Acer branded machines?

also can I load up acer bios to the gateway if they are based on the same motherboard/etc.?
    Thanks
