Yeah, I've posted this in the Acer subforum, but no-one has replied there :(

The gist of the issue - Radeon 4570 512 mb GDDR3 seems to have downclocked the memory from 800 MHz to 500 MHz, at least according to GPU-Z. PowerPlay is off, so it can't be the problem. 3Dmark 06 results - about 4050 marks.

My question is, can I force the video to maintain an 800 MHz memory? When under stress GPU-Z still reports it as 500 MHz and that's what bothers me. Or is the program at fault? Though, CCC shows it as 500 MHz as well. Is there anything I can do, or am I just screwed?

With 4570, you'll need to enable PowerPlay. However, even when it OFF, the memory clock should be 800MHz. Please post here the GPU-Z screenshot ( Sensors tab). You can use, for example RivaTuner to make the memory clock to run at 800MHz all the time.

Ok, I don't even know what the hell anymore. Here's the screenshot. It appears now it's downclocked everything. Also, GPU-Z started warning me about a missing driver.
About PowerPlay, the last time I asked (which might have been a good year ago) powerplay was bugged and downclocked the gpu even when under stress. So the commonplace advice was to turn it off completely. Maybe they've fixed it, but I still don't really need it, unless somehow it's the key to this mystery.

I know this is not normal. So I suggest you to re-install ATI driver. Sometime, ATI driver not cleanly uninstalled, so you'll need to use third party cleaner or/and manually delete any leftover. If you already did this, you might want to format & re-install windows. Did you overclock your graphic card before this happen?
Yeah, I read about this too (long time ago) but apparently this doesn't effect all 4570 graphic card OR manufacturer already provided VBIOS update through BIOS update. My 4570, if PowerPlay turned off, GPU Core Clock will stuck at 500MHz.

Yeah, I re-installed the latest official driver 10.12, it changes nothing, the memory is still stuck at 500 mhz all the time and I'm starting to not really care anymore :)

But still, if anyone has a solution, please share it, I'd be really grateful!

I guess you already tried all of my suggestion. :)

Anyway, try using RivaTuner & set memory clock to 800MHz. Set RivaTuner to run at startup. You should be able to set it. On my Dell, to be able to "overclock" it, I need to enabled PowerPlay. (It is not overclock to be precise in this case. Just to set memory clock to default frequency. :))

I read some people have problem with CCC 10.12 (reduced performance), while some people doesn't, even on the same graphic card model. Try install CCC 10.11 instead, just in case.

check the OCing guide in my Sig it may help you .... as for your 3dmark06 score of 4050 that means that your GPU is running full speed 680-680-800 or else there is no chance on earth you would score that high 680-680-500 scores around 2000~2500 so maybe there is a problem with the software reporting the clocks

EDIT: yes even though it may be running at 800 both GPUZ first tab & CCC will show that the card is running at 500 no matter what you do unless you overclock it manually to 800, so the powerplay trick puts the card on 800 but it wont show

Yeah, Mahmoud, I found your guide and it's great that you came to post here, because I've a question :) I'm using windows 7 32bit professional, and when I start Riva it warns me about how it's not tested with the current driver (10.12 mobile from the AMD site), but the problem is when I go to the power user tab, and it looks like this :

Am I supposed to fill all the values to match your screenshot, or is the program supposed to detect them itself?

just click on the button which is called the hexadecimal display and everything should look normal (it is the tiny button in ur screen shot with 0xD and below it 0xA) and set default 3dMemClkKHz to 800,000 and all shall be fine

Yeah, thanks! That was quite stupid of me, actually.

In the end, I seem to have done it, I even set the memory to 804 just to prove I can x) It does have some effect on the game, too, which is a nice bonus.

Thanks for the patience everyone! Especially MahmoudDewy :)
