To keep this short and sweet. This laptop has both the Intel 4500MHD and the GT 240M graphics. Acer's hybris graphics drivers are over a year out of date, and I desperately need updated drivers for the GT 240M. I don't care about the 4500MHD, and if I could, I would disable it altogether. For some reason though, setting the bios to "Discreet graphics only" has no effect at all, and I can still switch between the 2. This means the official nvidia drivers do not recognise the GT 240M, and I am forced to use the outdated Acer drivers.

I have scraped every corner of the internet trying to find a solution. I have check laptopvideo2go forums, and a guy called nautis creates his own set of hybrid drivers, but they do not support my laptop, and the guy seems to have lost interest in the project. So the future looks grim for my laptop, which is a shame because I really love it and it has a very respectable spec. I don't want to see it forced into obscurity because of Acer's neglect.

So here I am, asking for any help or advice as to my options. Or if anyone else around here has experienced the same as me and found a solution.

    *crosses fingers*

    Cheers :)

Just to update, I solved the problem. It was the v2.09 bios causing the problem. The graphics option seems to be bugged in this version of the bios as I downgraded to v2.07 and it now functions properly.

Running the latest nvidia verde drivers now.

yeah, just goes to show that sometimes updating to the latest of something, is not always the solution, and sometimes makes the issue even worse.

Anyway, I thought I would post my results, just incase anyone comes here in the future, with the same issue.

I may email Acer and tell them to get their act together!

Sorry for hijacking this thread but, I too experience the same problem and followed these steps. However when I choose the GT 240 ( discrete graphics ), windows refuses to boot. It comes to the windows 7 logo ( the 4 dots joining together and transforming into the windows logo ) and after the screen goes blank ( on but blank ) and remains so.

I updated my bios from v1.1 to v2.7, and then later to v2.8 because v2.8 said it had a fix for the hang. However that didn't work. Help I'm LOST!!

Integrated graphics works just fine as the intel gpu is happy to work alone. Switchable too works fine. Intel gpu is running on the latest drivers found from intel's support site whereas the GT 240M is running on the obsolete driver given from the manufacturer ( 187.45 when the latest is 275.33 )

    Drivers should be standard.

Just go into your bios, go into dedicated only mode, update the nvidia drivers, restart and go back to hybrid and it should be good to go.
