I'm looking at getting the Acer Aspire AS6530-5514 Laptop which comes with an ATI Radeon HD 3200. After doing some reading I'm pretty sure it is an Integrated Graphics. But the Tiger Direct Page here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4148869&sku=A180-16004&srkey=Acer%20Aspire%20AS6530-5514 says it is Dedicated Graphics, so that means I can pop it out sometime in the future and use a better GPU, maybe even a much preferred NVidia 9600 or does it have an Integrated Graphics Processor and an expansion slot for GPU? Then I found it on Newegg here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115501 on this page it says "Integrated Card", I don't think I ever seen that before, is that same as Integrated Graphics? Yes I am thoroughly confused. ^_^

I'm not sure about the 3200 being either integrated or dedicated, but if it is dedicated, the chances of it being upgradeable in the future are very slim.

from what i know its an integrated card with the performance of a lower-end dedicated card (like the 8400)

But it's still better to have a dedicated GPU than a integrated GPU unless you want more battery life and less power.

Well, you could upgrade it, in the sense that if there is a MXM-Slot in the 6530, so you could get a MXM-connector, see if you need a different heat-sink and order it from a spare part dealer, and get a MXM-graphics card like the HD 3470 and it might function in CrossFireX. Or just get a HD 3650. These 2 are supported by the BIOS for sure, and are available for around $150 on ebay.

The HD 3200 is an integrated GPU and is soldered on to the mobo.

So there is an MXM-Slot, that is good, is the ATI Radeon HD 3200 in the slot or is it empty. Thank You Andy, where did you find this information by the way?

I wouldn't mind upgrading the GPU, I prefer Nvidia over ATI any day, but I love AMD. Ahhh if only AMD and Nvidia merged together instead. ^_^

The HD 3200 is an integrated/onboard GPU, that's for sure.

I am not sure how feasible this graphics upgrade is gonna be, but the chipset is the M780G, so it should work with the MXM-graphics card as well. So, if you've got the time, money and patience, and if it works, it might be worth it in the end, with probably a HD 3650 or so.

You'll have to open it up and see if there is a MXM-slot with a connector in your notebook's model and see if the heatsink will cover the MXM-slot or not.

I got the official answer from Acer, it is integrated card, the laptop is UMA, whatever that means.
