    Hi Guys!
Well...its time for me to retire (for a while) from First Person Shooter games. Retire from the mindless shooting and blowing up things like in BF2 and many other shooters...

what i need is a vacation...from FPS games...
so i am planning to go visit the world of adventure games....so dose anyone know any good games (with good storyline! that is the most important part!!!) with good storylines???????? oh...and they will have to work with my Go6600 ;)

The Longest Journey. Its a little old but nice game in my opinion. Dreamfall, its sequel, is great too. Brand new but I can run it maxed out on my x700. Plus the main character is hot ;)

Psychonauts is a very good platform/adventure game with an excellent story and very good voice acting.

Only problem I can see with it on the PC, It's also on X-Box and PS2, is that the controls are a bit awkward with a keyboard since it's a platformer. Thus a gamepad is highly recommended. Or just get it on a console, it's cheap either way.

I just bought Titan Quest. It's Action based RPG and runs pretty nicely on my x1600 card. Bet you could run it too. The graphics is really nice and it's a nice story line and great fighting fun.. Defenetly one of the best games I ever played.

    www.titanquestgame.com

Guild Wars is an online game but the PvE part you can pretty much adventure alone, and it's a nice story driven progression through that part. and there's PvP too if u're in to that. Quite fun as well.

    www.guildwars.com

Too bad they dont make any new games like the old. Money Island, Indiana Jones, Simon the Sorcerer, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle. They are really nice, some of them u can find really cheap and they are still playable, some are even classed as Abandonware, wich means u can download them free of the internet on some sites...

If u rly want a pure adventure game with a very great story u can safely go with the longest journey as mentioned b4, its 6 yo now but still best

Dreamfall(2006) the sequel is not as good as original but still better than most recent adventure games.

I'll definitely second the recommendation for The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. Just excellent stuff.

I might also recommend checking out http://www.adventuregamers.com/ - this is basically a news and reviews site dedicated to adventure games. It might give you a good idea of what else is out there and what sort of things you might be interested in playing.

Not sure, you might need to dig around in the bargainbin, or look where your game store sells older games. It should only cost you about $10 or so. Worst case scenario you should be able to buy it from a variety of online stores.

You can probably play Dreamfall without playing the Longest Journey, but I'd probably recommend playing TLJ first if you don't mind, since it will probably make some things in Dreamfall more enjoyable/relevant.

If you havent already played them, the LucasArts games should have the first priority though. They're classics.
If/when you play them, download ScummVM and use that. Makes things a lot smoother, especially with the old games that can otherwise be a bit shaky under XP. :)

it will be here in a few days....so i'll play TLJ first before i play dreamfall.

If you want games set in more futuristic setting you can try Blade Runner and Moment of Silence.

And if you want something a bit darker get Post Mortem and the sequel Still Life.

One of the best resources about adventure games is the site: www.justadventure.com

A lot of games have better stories than FPS's. They're designed completly for multiplayer now-a-days and the stories are lacking because of that.

Wah? LucasArts haven't made any Star Wars or Harry Potter adventure games.
The adventure games they made are 100% original, and 150% awesome. :)

Yeah Oblivion has a storyline. I wouldn't call it a really obsorbing story where u are dying to know what happens next, but it's not bad.

Oblivion is good, but its an action/RPG not an adventure. Sure, there is adventuring in it, but its not a traditional adventure game. Its still a game I recomend most people try. You dont really need to know the series to get the game. Knowing the series just lets you in on the ES Lore before hand. And you might get the couple little references to the other games of the series. The stories arent connected too much beyond being set in the same world.

If you want a storyline, don't go with Oblivion. Its charm is that it allows you to goof around without a goal. It does that pretty well, and it does have a storyline. But it's not something that'll keep you up all night to find out what happens next. And you usually hardly even notice the story.

I didnt say stay away from oblivion, its very good in my opinion. I just said its not an adventure game.

You can play Dreamfall first. It wont change too much. You may not get some parts but it wont matter.

Just Finished Dreamfall today.....and i must say that it took me a long time to beat it. (i have been playing about 5~6 Hours a day for the past 6 days. THATS THE LONGEST IVE EVER PLAYED A GAME because usually i play only 1~2 hours a week) well.....the story had me hooked (It was AMAZING!!!) but the ending was rather disturbing and sad at the same time (HUGE CliffHanger!!!)...but overall it was a great adventure (i would rate it 9.5/10)..

ok....so now to the Longest Journey! (THEN DREAMFALL AGAIN!!!!!!!)

Took me longer than that to beat it. And I remember back in the day when it used to be you could spend a month on a game before beating it.....*thinks back to the good old days*

"Is that normal milk, or the crazy exploding dream kind?"

"It's fortified with what the world needs!"

I need to play Grim Fandango, the creator of Psychonauts worked on Grim Fandango, actually. =S

Same for Monkey Island, same guy. Tim Schafer rocks.

    EDIT:

The PRince of Persia series is very good too.
