    Hey,

I am into RTS genre (AOE style).

    Ive played:
    Stronghold
    AOE 2
    AOM

    DOW: SS
    EE
    LOTR: BFME2
    Starcraft
    ROE
    ROL
    Spore

    Acronyms ftw :p

The ones in bold are the ones that I liked. I kinda liked DOW, so its italicized :p

Yep, that one came to my mind also. SupCom is harder to call based on your list but maybe pick up the box and give it a read when your by the video store. You can pick up that and the expansion pack fair cheap and there is also decent (free) downloadable content for it.

Ya, Im getting SC and C&C, taking a look at Medeival right now.

Is Empire: Total War better than Medeival 2?

loved the "C&C: Red Alert" series. :)

Just finished Red Alert 3 Uprising...... way harder than the regular RA3... but very fun.

Empire total war is newer better graphics if that is important, but there's a larger emphasis on guns, artillery (although it still has alot of melee and cavalry still play a large role, and Ship battles :D)... where as medieval has a more balanced melee and ranged...

My choice is Empire total war, but it can be very intensive with graphic requirements and tons and tons of soldiers on screen at once

you need to play Red Alert 3 first to get what is happening in Uprising.

I think an amazing Uprising a stand-alone expansion.

the downside about RA3:Uprising is that there is no co-op play.... while RA3 does, which is extremely fun when wanting a friend to help you finish a mission in the regular campaign mode.

Co-Op RTS should become a norm now that I have experienced playing RA3. :D

Empire: Total War is supposed to be a very good game, but also very buggy. As such, I'm waiting a more stable release before purchasing.

    last note about RA3:Uprising.

the Yuriko Campaign is the craziest thing you will see in an RTS game.

... turns the game to a dungeon crawler (like a way awesome Diablo) where a single unit literally has beat off armies of enemies by herself.

Definitely worth playing just for that.... so much fun to see a little Japanese girl (that was experimented on) go postal on everyone. :D

I would say medium to high

Empire total war is a great game but to be honest the best total war game is Rome total war, you should look for it, must be really cheap by now.

    Thanks GOphn

Im playing the tutorial right now, and to get past the second objective, I have to rotate the screen. For which I need a middle mouse button. Which my laptop does not have. I tried remapping the rotate thing to z/x on the keyboard, but it still wont work. Is there a middle mouse button on my laptop that I dont know about?

you can use the Numpad to rotate the map.
    Numpad 4 = turns left
    Numpad 6 = turns right
Numpad 5 = returns to normal position

I do not really do any rotation of the maps when I am playing though.

+1 for BZ2 mods, did not know they existed. I LOVE that game, despite it's age. Now if only they could improve on the graphics and not toy with the gameplay formula too much for a Battlezone 3!

I didn't see anybody recommend Company of Heroes and it's expansion Opposing Fronts, if you'd enjoy WWII rts.

Also a RTS with nice graphics is only 4.99 on Steam right now, the "Weekend Deal": Universe at War Earth Assault, but it takes some work to get running.

Didn't read the thread so I hope I'm not repeating someone, but Universe At War is 5 bucks on steam and it got generally favourable reviews. I picked it up, but have no time for games so I haven't tried it yet.

I love BattleZone 2 as well and the mods I mentioned are great but there are many more. Some of those mods actually create an entire single player campaign and some were worked on from members of the original team amongst the community. There are also many single player instant action maps as well as a patch that adds compatibility and bug fixes. BattleZone2 will never die!

Between Empire Earth, Age of..., Rise of..., and Total War, I think you have most of the good-to-excellent historic RTSs for the PC covered (there's always the simple-seeming, but fun Tyrants: Fight through Time which was released for the Genesis [google Gens]...not a whole lot of sophistication, but you can still end up with UFOs firing lasers at cavemen who are throwing rocks)...

If you end up trying Company of Heroes and liking it, you might also try Act of War (modern combat RTS)...

If you end up trying World in Conflict, there's Ground Control 2 (sci-fi precursor to World in Conflict)...

Dragonshard (Dungeons & Dragons) is a good off-the-beaten path fantasy RTS...
