I can't wait to play this game, it has been hyped up for years now. I got really excited about the same time last year until they pushed it back for another 8-9 months.

It's coming in May, who else is excited?
Yes, I have summer to play it haha.
In the meantime I'm going to have to play cs:source, bioshock, or maybe even get imperium romanum
Question: Is there going to be a monthly charge for the online play in Age of Conan? (Like WoW?)
-
-
yea!! i've been waiting for this one since i pretty much heard about it.
as to your question about a monthly fee....im not 100% sure but i would have to say they probably have some sort of monthly charge.
since its only a few months away from when its supposed to be released hopefully there will be a open beta soon -
I'd like to play it, always been a Conan fan, I think it's $15 a month to play.
-
The screen shots look awsome, I play EQ2 now, but this game looks good.
-
This game is going to be godly.
-
It's good fun (based on beta experience)
I'm not sure about the monthly fee either. On one hand, I'd assume so (most new "big" MMOG's have a monthly fee).
On the other hand, Funcom has been running AO for free for years now. Why shouldn't they do the same with Conan? -
I wish the beta was an open one because I want to play so bad. -
im sure they would pull in alot more customers if it was free...it looks awesome though.
-
I've been waiting a long time for this game too, but I think I'll wait for a price drop. Fifty bucks for the first month of play is a bit much when there are many MMOs that allow you to dl the game for free and the only fee is the monthly subscription. Yea, I know Conan will blow them all away, but by the time the price comes down most of the bugs will be squashed.
@blitzerdog,
What do you mean when you say AO isnt as 'epic' as Conan? Since AO has come out a TON of content has been added. Also, AO is going to be getting a major graphical facelift soon.
*edit* who am I kidding, i wont be able to wait for a price drop... -
I'm pretty sure this game will be a big let down on all the hype.
A WoW clone with unstable DX10 graphics.
Everything heavily instanced.
Age of Conan is nothing new, just a reskin of the carebear MMO's of the past. -
I'm sorry, but it's fairly obvious that you don't know anything about the game. Sure, it might disappoint, and it might be unstable at release, yes, and yes it does support DX10, but everything else in your post is factually incorrect.
It's not a WoW clone, it isn't "heavily instanced", and it's not really a carebear MMO.
But don't let trivial things such as facts get in your way when ranting. -
I seem to have riled a fanboy.
We will just wait and see how long you are subscribed to it.
In another community I partake in we have a few members in beta who have to 'quietly' convey what they think.
The only thing we have gathered so far is the presence of instances, which is a big turn-off to many MMO fans.
Also included in what we have heard is that there is ALOT of work to be done to deliver the graphical experience that people are hearing about.
And that the delay could be set even longer, as there may be more difficulties to ensue.
WoW clone may have been drastic, as Age Of Conan is probably the second hopeful MMORPG nearing developmental completion in terms of gameplay. The WoW clone label should have been directed more towards Warhammer Online, so my apologies.
Lets just hope they implement their unique features well for PvP.
And for carebear?
I don't have to reiterate myself.
There is only one game in development that may meet the criteria of hardcore PvP.
But I don't plan on playing another game that doesn't utilize player penalties and the idea of losing armor and weapons.
Full loot, no 'no pk' zones, and well implemented PvP is what there is to look for.
And sadly the idea hasn't been correctly used since Pre-AoS Ultima online.
Vangaurd was a hopeful, and supposedly had supierior graphics and gameplay.
But turned out a dud.
So I guess we will see, eh?
If anything i hope your right so I can play a good MMO for a change. -
I know the current state of the game. I'm in beta.
Furthermore, I haven't ever said it's going to be a good game. I'm just saying that the specific criticism you had are untrue.
Think again, Sherlock.
The screenshots are real. Of course, there may be work to do to make this detail level possible on your system or mine, but that's a different matter.
I'd say there's a big difference between "it doesn't meet your criteria of hardcore PvP" and "it's carebear". Especially because you didn't say anything about your criteria of carebear. Just general, unqualified carebearism.
Perhaps it'll be better than UO ever was, but because it'll have to be different in order to achieve that, you'll dismiss it immediately.
No, seriously, I can already promise you that it won't be the UO you're looking for. If "must be like the old UO" is your criteria for a good MMO, then you won't like it.
Personally, I think the world is bigger than UO, and I think it's possible to do *a lot* better than UO did. That game had plenty of flaws, even if it got one or two things nearly right.
Maybe Conan will satisfy one or both of us. Maybe it won't.
I just wanted to point out that most of the criticism from your original post was factually incorrect. -
it could be good who rly knows. As for WoW clone.. ur talkin bout Warhammer Online. same freakin game anyone who argues is clueless
btw pretty much all fantasy MMOs r the same but hey wut r u gona do. -
edit
santa btw
Not sure what your gettin at here.
I'm just saying I'm expected quite the disappointment for most MMO followers.
And sorry I didn't explain my criteria, I didn't realize you were such a internetual forumized spekking man of netlangoo.
ur post is lulz! -
Wow Mippoose why are all your posts so negative?
-
Nonsense bro!
NONSENSE!
:]

Hmmm... Warhammer Online, is like, a WoW clone? Like, Warhammer people, dudes, how could you steal ideas from Blizzard?!?!
I mean, they both have, like... Orcs, and Goblins, and Space Marines, and stuff!
It's not as though they, like, used to work together or something. Or, like, I mean, no way could Blizzard have been the dudes taking Warhammer's ideas? That's just not possible, man!
I'm sure they also couldn't possibly both have been inspired by some random well-known work of fantasy, right?
Age of Conan! Almost Here.
