I plan on upping my ram to 4 GB before the release of this game on October 30th. just wondering if you think the game will run well on my g1s? im a little worried i jumped the gun buying my gaming laptop 3 months before the game i really want to play releases. (didn't find out this was the game for me until after i bought laptop)

OK cool but unless I am missing somthing your RAM is not the issue the GPU is? You have 3GB RAM? No MFG is expecting that much.

I know the game will be pushing my laptop to its limits.. RAM is the only thing I can upgrade so I plan on maxing that out.

I'm curious about this game as well. Would it run well on the Inspiron 1520 with the T7300, 2 gigs of RAM (considering upping it to 3 gigs), and 8600 GT.

If they will be comparable to Oblivion, this is what you should have:

-- A DX10 card with 256mb; the 8600GT should be powerful enough (most likely a recommended requirement).
-- 2GB+ of RAM (if running Vista)
-- 1.9GHz+ Core 2 Duo (that's probably a pessimistic estimate, even for a recommended requirement)
    -- Lotsa hard drive space.

This is an MMORPG, right? Anyone know if it'll be free or with monthly fee?

I think I saw the fee will be similar to WoW.

I watched a video a while back that was narrated by an AoC dev, and he said that the requirements would be about what is needed for Oblivion.

Alright. So then lower down the C2D to a 2.5GHz P4 or so, and the DX10 card down to a 128mb version (8400). RAM about 1GB if you're on Vista. That should get you running AoC.

And I don't think it's gonna be that great. I'm indifferent of Conan relative to other stories/authors. The main thing that I think is going to bring it down is the graphics it supports. They're too hardcore. If you look at any other MMORGPs which have made it big, they don't have any fancy-shmancy things, just what's needed. WoW: can run maxed out on a GeForce 4 Ti4200. Runescape: it's RS.... ROSE Online: Same as WoW. AoC: Ouch.

AoC site lists that the game will be highly scalable...

Likely the G1S will play it quite well provided you are willing to make a few trade-offs.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of those trade-offs is playing in DX9 mode instead of DX10 though.

I am also eagerly awaiting AoC... and Oblivion plays quite well on my x205.

    *crosses fingers*

I tend to somewhat agree with that... relates to what i posted on the AoC forums:

"requiring a mandatory computer upgrade would be very detrimental to the game's (initial) success.

On the other hand, running a top of the line, DX10 graphics engine will help the game through future years. I would think, though, that the success of an MMO relies somewhat heavily on the initial wave of subscribers. if the game starts out slow due to high hardware req's, it may never recover.

Lets hope they've found a good balance."

Hopefully kernal is right and the graphics will be highly scalable.
