Lets all reinstall this classic game or download it (legally of course ;) ) and lets all play it this weekend. This is the bestest game ever.

I agree, it is a great game. My castle time has slowed down though. I used to be able to castle in 19 minutes on fast speed, but it has gotten down to 23 :(.

I LOVE this game! Started playing it since I was kid, and am still playing it. Definitely one of the best. I love how it's not as fast-paced as other RTS games like Starcraft.

I always sucked at the game, and never played AoE2 online. I found out the hard way that I sucked when I played AoE1 online, and I was still in the tool age while everyone else was advancing to the iron age. My axemen never stood a chance.

:( I wish it would work properly on my Vista x64 and I would be in (And sadly, the only version I have gotten to work is a version packed in a single .rar, else it gives a directdraw version error, and thus pirated, but I do have a legal copy, so I don't feel bad when I play it on LAN :p).

there should be a patch for vista 64, I can run it on vista 32

Funny that youre all talking about AoE2 because I only installed it a couple of days ago finding it on a dusty shelf, one I the best RTSs IMO, spesh with Conquerors :)

I also have the discolored water and grasses. The funny thing is when i play it it freezes after about 3-4 minutes. The whole computer locks up. I cannot minimize or do anything. It does work when i boot into safe mode, i have no idea what is up. If anyone has similar issues or suggestions on how to fix it, advice would be much appreciated.

I was absolutely addicted to AoE2 back then, I was often up all night playing online. That was when I still used 56k and crappy computer (I was always the one with a turtle next to his name!). Still I spent so much time optimising the build order, tactics and everything, luv it to bits.

I was quite disappointed with AoE3 though and could never enjoy it as much (I tried!)

    o_O thats pretty rigid.........

maybe not this week end then how about your sunday night. and depending on the number of players you might want to allow 2 hours. 1v1 is usually over in half an hour 2v2 in about an hour and any more than that depending on fairness, can be up to a couple of hours or longer.

I thought to myself a week ago, I haven't played this game in awhlile. The copy I had hidden away was all scratched and getting a direct draw error when trying to play. I purchased a new copy from ebay Australia. It also wouldn't work because I needed direct draw? Anyways I have a new pc, so i updated the driver for my ATI card and it worked, but when trying to play the game, it tells me please insert the game disc. I have installed it and the game disc is inside, but it still says that...

So I installed it on my Sony Vaio notebook and the game started up(no direct draw issue), but when trying to play it, again it says to insert game disc. I even borrowed my brothers copy..Same thing.

Anyone have any idea how to resolve this? I want to play this game again. It will actually be the first pc game I play in years...

Go to Gameburnworld.com and download the no-cd crack. It is legal to do so if you own the game. That is what i did, as i do not wish to carry the cd with me at all times. Just make sure you get the right version of the crack.

I am down this friday - saturday. I will be available from after midnight, which is technically saturday morning. I live on west coast so it's -8GMT here.

Question - is someone's going to host the server or we will join through the official MSN Zone?

Refer to the NB AoE 2 thread on the first page.
4 vs 4 would be awesome!

Heads up from me, I'll be focusing on economy building, as long as I get full protection from my allies :D
