I've been playing the game since early 2001 when I got my first computer. I'm still addicted to it! Does anyone else here share my passion?

Yea, even AOEIII didn't compare to the previous two. I used to LOVE the cinematic at the beginning of AOEII-Conqueror's Expansion.

My friends and I used to be huge AoK junkies. LAN'd that all the time, 8-player games on huge maps.

How do you turn this on

u must have misunderstood me, i wasnt stopping him from playing that game. i was merely saying its not normal to play a game for so many years.

well, u can ask urself, r u still playing a game which u were first introed to in the year 2001?

i m sure we both know the answer to that question.

imho, and with all due respect, i think u need better comprehension skills mr thomas before u accuse ppl of trolling (why on earth would people waste their time trolling in notebookreview.com forums is beyond me)

    P.S i intended to type 8 years, not 9.
2001 to 2008 = 8 years (assuming he started playing in early 2001, and i would suppose for your elitist sake, we can put it as roughly 7.5 years)

I know the answer to your question.
Let's see, I still play Total Annihilation, as well as Starcraft.

One is 11 years old, the other is 10. Go figure.

Let him play whatever he wants. I say if his hardware can run it without having compatibility issues, more power to him.

First off, don't tell someone to work on their comprehension skills. It's kinda hard to understand the 3rd Grade gibberish you are typing.

I still play CS:1.6, and Starcraft.

There's nothing wrong with playing a game after so many years. It really must say something about the game, if it can keep you interested after so long. :)
Not many games ever made that could do that. :)
Hey, I still play a game from 2000, and others from the mid-late 90's. ;)
It seems to me, that older games relied much more on great writing and a great story, than flashy graphics (cause graphics were really sub-par back then ;)).

I started playing it when it came out in '99. It was basically the only game I played for 3 or 4 years and I was seriously addicted to it ;). At some point I just stopped playing it though and only installed it again in my current laptop but it barely ran. I suspect it had something to do with vista since it ran nicely with maxed out settings in my old laptop which had an integrated gma900 lol. I think it's still my all-time favourite game though :).

I still remember playing aoe1 demo lol, and once the game came out, dad took my brother and I to the newly built best buy in our area and we bought it. The franchise is great, and ever since then, i've never stopped playing any of their games. :D

yep i still play the expansion online. never gets old :) been 6 years or something. too bad zone doesnt host anymore (cheap Ensemble Studios) such a shame because this game has so much potential online. Still aoe2 players are running their own servers and play there @ www.igzones.com .. there's usually 1000~ players logged in at a time usually.

its quite normal to enjoy playinig old games by the way :) for some us its fun gameplay not pretty graphics that matter. I personally tried aoe3 and couldnt get into it AT ALL. seems like companies think that the more simplify things the better. At the same time they put all their focus on graphics. they took out most of the economy in aoe3 and that ruined the game for me

Lol since when is it not normal to play a game for 8 years...i still play starcraft which along with Warcraft 3 is still the best RTS around. Not everyone has to start a new game when someone tells them to.

Yeah, playing a game that old is lame! No one plays Chess or Go any more. Those games are so middle ages.

Huh, maybe its not common for people to play older games. But, I still play games from DOS on occasion. Ascendancy is my favorite one, its a turn based RTS game. Older RTS games hold up a lot better than older FPS games.

I guess the game I play most often is nearing 4 years old. So going back a few more years every once in a while isn't a big deal at all.

In short, Age of empires 2 was a fantastic game! And you can play it on almost any system now! Great game for a non gaming laptop.
