How many here have pre-ordered it and how many are willing to play it when it's out?![]()
-
-
i pre-ordered it at best buy, but ended up not liking it so i wont get the game.
-
Do you know if the game has lots of grinding? -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Every MMORPG has lots of grinding.
-
I've been playing MMOs for too long to still be optimistic enough to pre-order any new game.
-
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
You already knew the answer to your own question then.
-
So I want to know from anyone that played the BETA here if there is lots of grinding or not cause I love grinding. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Whatever floats your boat, chief. I'm sure it has plenty of grinding to last you hours.
-
-
Open Beta started yesterday and from what I've heard it's nothing special at all. Even the visuals what were supposed to be good are worse than LoTR Online but luckily better than WoW's.
-
-
Brb, busy lagging.
-
World of Warcraft's visuals are going to be changed a lot by the next expansion as confirmed by Blizzard Entertainment.
-
Been playing Aion since the closed beta testing, it wasn't bad. Haven't experienced end game so I'm not gonna comment on it yet. The open beta servers are horrendously laggy right now, hope they will fix it soon.
Regardless, I'll give it a spin for a month or two with a few friends and see how it goes. -
-
I don't think u should base your opinion on lag in "beta", afterall it's just beta, if there's any lag it will b fixed fairly quick, it just means more ppl play it than anticipated
I played closed beta and I really like it, everything is exciting in the game, and I'm picky, I bought WAR when it came out and after a month it was in garbage.
And graphics look very good to me, I mean it's not gonna b crysis but it looks damn good, I'm even suprised that some may not find it graphic enough. in the end u can't please all no matter what -
I agree that all would never be pleased together since some like white and some like black and Aion has it's own style just like other MMORPG.
You should check Warhammer Online again if you'd like, it's been changed a lot. -
9.12GB for Open Beta...
That's a no go for me lol I'm gonna wait for a buddy to burn this on a CD lol
edit: a Couple of CDs hahaha -
Thanks for the news guys, didnt know that the open beta client was out. 3hours to go (gotta love broadbands).
Didnt preorder the game yet but im planning to give it try when it comes out. -
Grinding + flying elves = weird times.
-
I'll wait for the "Fallen Earth" reviews ! -
I am still downloading the open beta client, but based on my research from videos, various sites, and a couple podcasts, this game sounds pretty nice. This is only for the lower levels (1-30). I don't know anything about the end game content, but I hear that the bosses are just tank n spank. I'm definitely gonna try it out because I'm bored of WoW at the moment. The only thing that I don't like right now in Aion is that the different classes/subclasses don't have much diversity. For example, in WoW, druids can be tanks/healers/dps, but Templars in Aion are only used for tanking.
-
Finally the servers are playable.
-
..that look Asian for some reason.
-
And don't kid yourself, WoW isn't that diverse in terms of classes. Every class has 3 cookie cutter builds. Aion is no different, they just do it a different way. Read up on Stigmas. And I do like Aion's class system a tad better. Why? Unlike WoW, they're not homogenizing classes and the only difference nowadays in the game is how you want to look. -
Blizzard makes everything more powerful than it should be, they give every race or class things that make them so powerful and hybrid that they can do almost everything, they allow everyone to use every kind of mount (Can you ever imagine a Tauren on a Strider, if you're not playing World of Warcraft?), they allow every race/class to wear items that look like anything despite their type(Plate, mail, leather or cloth) like that purple technologic weapon that the Orc hunters get at end, they give the players abilities that makes it seem like they are Game Masters and in the end they run out of ideas and make Tauren Priests. -
You know, I haven't found a time in this game where there wasn't a quest to do. No more grind than any other MMO.
And all Asian looking? You can customize the characters so much you can make a crazy Scottish looking warrior with a huge beard (my character).
It's pretty cool, but I don't know if I'll play it at release. -
Why don't you know if you'll play it when it's released? -
I can see how WoW isn't diverse with the fact that there are 3 basic rolls in end-game, but it looks like if a person wants to play both a tank and dps class they have to level up two different characters to max level. Of course, this is just my assumptions because I haven't even played the game.
As for the character customization, it looks like a pretty fun process. I am sure I will spend at least an hour working on my character looks. -
I played the closed beta and loved the game. A great game that everyone should try. It has great potential, and has amazing graphics. If anyone thinks this games graphics are not good, you are probably playing it at 800-600 res.
There are quests everywhere and not all of them are fetch quests. The combat is very involved and finally makes those FPS instincts and reflexes of mine useful in an MMO.
Its amazing how they added Asian Anime styled graphics with western gaming. Its my dream MMO and i like it. -
Asian MMOs:
Loads of grinding
Good graphics
Good looking characters that you can **** off to.
Horrible gameplay
Relating to NC has nothing to do with it. They didn't make the game. Will Aion be different from other Asian MMOs? I doubt it, but let's find out in a few days. -
Thank you. -
Grouping has been great so far, I've been in two groups of 6 people and they've all been successful, we grinded and quested quite a bit, learning new things, like what to do and what not to do(run into a mob and not killing the flaggers).
It's pretty fun so far, groups are fun, the 6 people party system works well, 1 tank, 3 dps and 2 healers, where there is one main healer and an offhealer, like a chanter or a dps cleric -
-
so i've been playing through the first 12 or so levels of aion, and i must say, i'm quite impressed, items for quests are a little hard to find depsite the pathfinding system in place somethings are just not directed well, other then that the laggyness has gone down quite a bit, although i'm on the east coast so i benifit a bit when it comes to playing because the servers are here.
what i do like is the flight system, quests aren't bad and diologue is good, character customization is sick, and the game does a good job of getting you used to the play style. I've been generally having a lot of fun playing it.
what i don't like is lack of descriptive terms in some quests, it crashes my logitech g15 for some odd reason.. no clue there, i had a hard time learning about some of the new things such as power shards, stigma's, and a few odd thigns the game has built in. Oh and most of all, there are a million people playing who do nothing and i mean nothing but sit a level one and talk about how this game is similar or not similar to WoW. I had to change channels to get away from some of it but it's still annoying. I'll grab some screens to post in a sec for you -
-
My G15 works fine with it, thats weird.
-
what server are you on, and what fps are you getting?
-
also wanted to say i achieved very good performance by turning down the view distances and i can run the game maxed out after that 8x aa and all and still be smooth fps
-
Are those screenshots from max settings? For some reason, I think that the graphics look much worse than WoW graphics. The interface looks nice though.
-
idk i'll have to pull some wow screen for you but wow looks half maybe less then half as good as this game. The performance is great and it's got much better detail and it's overall just more intuitive to play, btw my ss is maxed out just poor angle and perhaps lighting due to time of day, i i don't think the other ss is maxed out. Let me see if i can upload one of my current location in the day, it's a little nicer looking.
-
Maybe its just me. It looks like Oblivion graphics in my opinion. I was looking at the Aion official website, and their posted "screenshots" look quite amazing. It is probably due to the colors.
-
These screens were all taken on my g71 asus at max settings everything turned up, i average anywhere between 60 and 80 in town and 80-120 outside of town, cpu oc at 3.0Ghz stock voltage and gtx260 at 550/950/1350
-
I've been looking to get into an MMORPG, and Aion seemed like something I would try out... was really excited when I found out that it went into Open Beta on the 6th, huge turn off when I found out that _OPEN BETA_ requires you to have a key from closed beta or from preordering.
? What kind of open beta is that. -
Actually, I think there was a signup on fileplanet for the open beta but I'm pretty sure that shut down superfast.
-
usually fileplanet and curse give away free beta keys for games. i got Battlefield Heroes beta keys from curse. perhaps look there.
-
Welcome to generic Asian MMO #56757. -
Not quite sure what you guys are talking about...
Aion points:
-There is almost no grind... most of the long-term advancement is PvP-based
You lose a lot of this advancement for dying in PvP, you gain a little by killing.
-Max level you can achieve in PvE will be finished in 2 weeks by powergamers
(So roughly WoW-ish...)
-Quests advance you through your storyline...
-From all the screenies and gameplay videos the game is absolutely beautiful... WoW is a 3yr-old's stick-figure drawings in comparison to Aion.
-PvP is based upon #1 who has the speed hack and who doesn't. If you don't, you are a non-factor in open PvP. (one lower-level with the speed hack will kill 20 max levels without it)
-PvP is bottlenecked on all asian servers after the first few weeks of a server as hordes of the opposite side wait at the gate and kill you instantly. From time to time this gets broken up by a charge of 40 or more people trying to break through... Pretty much they wait for level 2x's to cross over for the PvP-zone quests to get easy kills.
Don't even bother to come in without the speed hack.
Aion's success in the US will depend on how well its GMs enforce cheating policy.
Since its levelling curve encourages max-level newbies, bring friends to play with as pubbie grouping is going to be painful. (think wow, but now you have to PvP) -
If Aion has got speed hacks then there is already no chance for the game's success.
