hi everyone, i have an aw 17 2013, i bought an 980m and i would like to know what is the max watts that can support this gpu. This gpu has a vbios modified with no power limits, the stock vbios had a power ceiling of 80 watts, so i had a lot power throttling before the new vbios.. And now i would like to know the max watts because i did some OC and use the unigine heaven to benchmark. after that in gpu z i saw a registry of 130.5 Watts as max in PCIeSlot Power and 136.1 in Board Power Draw and 104.9 W in GPU chip Power Draw... and the max temp was 74°

He keeps posting about his newly bought 980m and wants to know if his system has enough power because he see throttling..so to answer you benchmark your system and compare with other systems...if your score is lower come back if not be happy...power is irrelevant.

    980m is not pascal

Thanks for answer. The power throttling is not an issue at this time, it was solved with a modified vbios. I did some oc with msi afterburner with 80 in core clock and 135 in memory clock, the gpu run with good temps, 74 max. I have all copper heatsink with 5 pipes but in gpu z appears 130.5 Watts as max in PCIeSlot Power and 136.1 in Board Power Draw and 104.9 W in GPU chip Power Draw. So I would like to know if I can do more OC with these values in gpu-z?

You can if your core can still give you more clock without artifacts..

At 130W I would guess you are around 1300Mhz core, above there are not many chips that can do so..

If you haven’t added the 3 missing core power FETs, I would not push the card much past 110W regularly unless you want it to burn out. If you get black screen or shutdown, that’s a telltale sign the VRM is being pushed too hard and triggering OTP or OCP.
