Nice find. Here is a review of a M570RU with a 8800GTX in it. Hopefully they will post the SLI 8800GTX review of the D901C soon also!

    Those 8800GTX cards are insane!

sorry someone change it to 8800M gtx please...

I am curious about m15x vs m17x same specs and all but GPU...

I believe the m15x will be unbelievable.. since its the first notebook ever to have a high end card... I guess... but still... think... 15.4 inch with 8800m gtx ... wow...

I don't think they would risk something like that. The 8800M GTX should run cooler than a 7950GTX, since it's power consumption is lower.

Notebook cooling has come a long way. My D901C is chilly.

I hope they benchmark it against the fastest Nvidia desktop video card and not just against other laptop video cards. People who would buy such a notebook may want to compare it against the desktop performance and if the difference is too great, then buying such a laptop is not worth it.

That link I posted above has benchmarks in it. You can compare it to desktops running the same apps and get what you want there.

Erm, that dude claims the 8800 is great because you can play games like bioshock, HL 2, etc maxed, something not possible on 8600 or 8700.

I play bioshock, half life 2, etc maxed, usually just no AA. What is this guy talking about.

Any thoughts on what the cost of a 15.4" with the 8800m GTX will cost? Probably $2200 or so?

edit: Holy Crap! The Rock Xtreme showed cost £2,199.00, roughly equivalent to $4400 US!!! WTF? I'm better off buying a SFF PC with an 8800 GT and lug it around with a monitor since it would cost half as much (if not less).

On alienware it started at 1399 or 1499 I believe... that was when they had the test url up...

With 2.2c2d 160gb 8800m gtx robson 2gb etc... basically well equipped it came up to $2200... so it wasnt that bad...

Fully equipped it went up into the $4000 I think.

It wont be that bad since the current preorders for m570ru are still not that badly expensive... so by mid January the m15x and m17x will tear up the competition.

on a WUXGA res with 8XAA and 16XAF? maxed is EVERYTHING including AA, maybe our opinions of "maxed" are differing but you would assume maxed means everything

The 15" looks attractive, if it actually works. Is Alienware the only one to make a 15" with the 8800m GTX?

I might be tempted to off my Vostro and figure out a way to make up the difference to get the m15x if I can get it for about $2k. I wouldn't mind same specs as my Vostro except swap 8600m GT for 8800m GTX!

from the config page that was up earlier, you could get an 8800m gtx in the 15 incher for under $2000, so if that page was accurate you could do it :)

Yes m15x is the only 15.4 incher...

I would wait until the m15x and m17x come out... and then check how expensinve or cheap it is...

You could maybe use the Alienware return program... where you give your laptop in for money... its easy but you dont elways get as much as if you sell it to someone...

Maybe... but MAYBE dell would fit an 8800n gtx in its vostro line (probably not) or xps 1530 (thatd be the killer)

This line of posting makes me bash my head against the wall. Would you give it a rest Beatsiz? all of us know how "good" alienware is, and even though they have, and I underline , THEY HAVE a 15 inch laptop with the fastest GPU out there, they won`t have it anywhere near 'cheap' . It might be a kewl feat to have the backlit keyboard, skull logo and alienware branding, but that thing will be thick. Read the mx15x and m17x unveiled topic and you will see .
The sager 5792 will be much better that the m15x ,and at about the same price, with a bigger screen, and the 9262 will be on par with the m17x, but with quad core and better specs overall and much lower price.

Alienware got its reputation by aggressive marketing and not by quality.I have a few friends out there with alienwares and appart that they are unique and something to bragg about, they are outperformed and outpriced by a lot of other laptops.

Third that. Like someone has mentioned in the past Alienware has used MXM III in 15.4 inches in the past. I hardly doubt this is IV unless its a behemoth of a 15.4 inch.

Well... still... After looking at pics the m15x doesnt seem that thick at all...

And the point is that where talking about 15.4 inchers... alienwares the only one...

Unless someone is planning on 8800gts maybe in a 15.4 incher...

I also heard that the m15x wont be thicker than the m9750

It looks hot, and then it doesn't. I'd be happy with that keyboard and GPU in my 1520.. LOL..

The 8800m GPU option is a added $300 - $1000 to what ever the system originally starts at.

And trading you're system in into Alienwares new program is not the answer. It is if you got like old computers in your closet collecting dust but you'll get a max $400 for a top of the line laptop in that program.

The system is thick, likely the base is the same thickness of my 1520, closed - give or take.

I guess but I mean he said 1280x1024 IIRC and I don't even think some of those games support 8x AA or 16X AF unless you force it. Regardless, I will take no AA and AF (or one of the lower levels) for 40 FPS with everything else maxed in gears and UT 3, but thats just me.

Well... since when is the 1520 really that thick?! If your comparing a GAMING/HIGH END laptop to a DELL INSPIRON and their almost the same... I can not see the big deal about thickness...

Look at the friggin fat x205... it scares me to death

errr.... yeah it looks thick but thats the Alien Cloak Anti Shock Absorber.. its makes the laptop seem thick... :)

Yes it does look thick... but I am sure it wont be THAT thick... I just kinda measure my HP DV6000 where the usb ports are and the laptop... I measured 2.5cm ... if I estimated the m15x it would be around 3cm or 3.5cm at most... Andnotto forget my dv6000 is rounded off on the corners...

So... it will still be around m9750 thickness... as I said...

And dont forget that the x205 is like 5.2cm thick... with screen... m15x would be less than that for sure... my god my hands hurt when I tried to touch the x205... then my eyes popped out when I couldnt get a grip on its love handles...

    By the way

This is my laptop im currently building (nah jk)

    The 5972.. as in M570ru ?

because DC901C is like.. no way... too big... too heavy...

While I will not deny the x205's size, but most of the 15" vostros we get here are considerably less easy to handle than the heavier x205.

It's about balancing the weight over the whole laptop instead of just in one area.

If such an 8800 laptop is "light" but weighted towards one side it will be more unwieldy than a heavier laptop. I honestly would rather a little heavier and balanced weight.

IMHO if you are buying an 8800m, you are not going for "cheap" or "ultra-portable" anyway... you are honestly better off getting the cooling and comfort the larger 17" casing offers.

After having used a 15" for many years, I love my 17" and will not go back... The difference is a completely unnoticeable 2.4 lbs...
I do notice the larger overall size... but then again I feel a LOT more comfortable on the full-size keyboard than the cramped 15" ones...

To put things in comparison, they set weight limits for severely injured people.. 10lbs is pretty common for even such injuries like broken shoulders after just a few days after the incident.

If the 2-3lb difference is even noticeable, then you are growing extremely weak. Weaker than a severely injured person...
Especially in beatsiz's case, it may be time to consult a doctor on your degenerating muscles.

Hey... im sure alienware balanced the weight...

the x205 is NOT balanced imo... I picked it up in best buy and it tipped and it hit the neighboring laptop... lol

I use external keyboard + mouse at home anyways...

And I just dont want to spend more on a 17inch... EXPENSIVE<CHEAP<EXPENSIVE... in other words... 13-<14/15.4<17+

And I would not walk around playing games on it... i'd set it down ;)

And dont worry about balance... I got internal gyroscopes and balancing motion sensors which kinetically arrange the mass exerted on my spinal axis so I dont get all back screwed... rofl ;)

As an owner of a rebranded Clevo D900T, I can honestly say that when you buy an Alienware you are buying brand, support, and lots of cool glowing lights.

Yeah, it cost a lot of money...but it was awesome owning one in the first desktop 'gaming' replacement era. Good old X800m.

Anyway, I can't say anything bad about Alienware, because they have repaired the ol' girl a couple of times at a cost of over 3000 dollars at absolutely no cost to me. Got to love that damage protection + warranty! :)

    *glares at costly-to-repair dell inspiron*

What? I considered the x205 and that thing was just too awkward for my tastes. The Vostro is definitely heavier than most 15" notebooks, but it isn't "unbabalanced" IMHO.

Oh please. Every pound makes a difference. When travelling I want to cut as much weight as I can. It's not just the laptop but the other crap coming along for the ride too.

Anyone ever try comparing all of Alienwares current laptops...

oh sorry... not possible... they havent had a 15 inch yet.. have they? I think they may have... but its probably very underpowered..

I mean... if you take all the current laptops they have and add all the weight together and then divide by all laptops... wouldnt you get an average weight for an alienware? lol my math theory

The performance of the 8800M in that review seemed pathetic. My M9700 got 60fps with v-sync on in CSS with 6aa.

I'm assuming that it is just driver issues right now.

    How is it pathetic ?!

They probably dont even have the official drivers on it yet... and they probably wont have good benchmarks until we do them.

And the 8800m gtx drop kicks 2 7900gs's and maybe even 2 7950gtx's we will see if its true...

Yeah it does beat the 7950. It´s easy to hell to see, just look at the benchmarks of the 8800GTS, not the new one but the GTS 320 and compare how the 8800M will run.

    30fps on high... thats average

And not to mention driver updates (major when it releases) and patches on crysis

I think the card will kick up 40-50fps on high average and after updates + drivers

And maybe all maxed out in sli at 20fps on very high... thatd be nice

I idiotically didnt take any screens of it... I had it up... I was the only one who left it up for 5 days and didnt think of it... I could of made screens of all of it... :(

Anyways... just look online for m15x or m17x... usually any article will have screens

    Prices arent official btw
