It's usually a Clevo card in an alienware/dell

Clevos are recommended to use clevo cards

    The listing says it's 100 W..

As for compatibility, the MX cards have not been offered with Alienware thus far so I don't think the card you're looking at is an "Alienware GPU". Probably pulled from Clevo's to entice Alienware users looking to upgrade.

    Ok.
As far as I can see. It will work, but I might need to flash it to a lower power req. Either that or get a bigger psu.

    OR

    Get a GTX 670MX

IMO not much of a upgrade over the GTX 670M.

Are you just looking to upgrade, or is there something wrong with your card? If it's the former, I wouldn't bother getting a 670mx. The 675mx would be a decent upgrade, but for that price you could find a 7970m as well. Not sure if there are different power requirements between the 675mx and the 7970m though.

lol then the 7970 is the best bang for your buck. It runs BF3 really well, especially with the new drivers.

How the 7970m will cope with the power limit (if at all) is anybody's guess though..

What power limit? It's just a MXM 3.0b card, 100W which any Clevo, MSI or Alienware can support. He can just use the 180W PSU, can get one for $50.

9130's got the juice and cooling capacity for 100W? Wonder why they don't come with top-end video cards to begin with..

EDIT: Seems like they do after all.. Curious :)

You will need the larger PSU for the NP9130. The NP9130 only comes with a 120W PSU which is not nearly powerful enough for any 100W GPU. 180W is needed. Although I don't know that the heatsink/pipe that comes stock with the NP9130 is sufficient for the 100W GPU.

From what I can see from the NP9150 pics, the HSF is identical.

It may be. It would be good to get confirmation. I know in the past users updated their NP8130 with a faster GPU, but needed a new Heatsink, basically the one from NP8150.

But it did require a new heatsink. I believe the NP9130 and NP9150 have the same motherboard, only the power for the backlit keyboard is removed. The connector doesn't exist. Otherwise same.
