Duuuude, that Killer Notebook has a killer price
Now , leaving aside the initial price, the upgrade from 7950GTX to the 8800M GTX is 150 $. Care to take a guess onto why they can have 3 options on the same laptop? I'm willing to bet that no motherboard revision will be required for the upgrade, as long as info is correct at this point.
However, I've heard that Alienware will not start shipping those beasts sooner than 2008. Just a rumor tho` .

Dude, you aren't supposed to buy a "killer" or whatever else versions with weird names of that notebook exist, right? :p

No. I already bought the "Force 5791' :p from XoticPC.
Let's hope it's the same killer notebook, with the futuristic 8800MGTX included...

The upgrade cost of the 8800 seems rather excessive to me too. I'm considering to wait for the release and grab the 7950s instead.

Any idea how much this would weigh? Six metric tons?

As kewl etc. as the Alienwares are, I never understood the point of them. Its barely portable, and with that much power you are going to want a 19" monitor or bigger anyway. Bit of a mystery.

It could be just about 8.5 lbs.... why not?

That's not an ugly Clevo brick (No offense Gophn). :p

That would be about 3.8 kgs....The last Alienware lappy was 4.5 AFAIK. Which is enough to pull your arm off. The only place it can live is a desk, so why not just buy a desktop? Is it because the laptops look better?

I mean, whatever makes people happy, perhaps if I bought one I could develop Arnie arms :p

Yes 2.33ghz the fastest... same as their gpu charts with no 7950 in it :)

Anyways... Ive got all my cash for my baby on monday ;)

Anyone PLEASE tell me what cpu I need? As in.. which one will NOT bottleneck the gpu... and mainly because 2.2 to 2.4 is like 100 to 150 bucks once I played around with the temp. customization page

What is better... 120gb 7200rpm or 160gb 5400rpm... performance AND pricewise... its kinda expensive for the 7200rpm's

And whats the difference between Skullcap and ... whatever the other one was

NIce stuff Alienware goin 1 step a head and seems like they're working with Nvidia without rest to force the 8800GTX out. 1 card is good enough why would ppl wants 2 cards? they want the laptop last 5 years or what/

Seems like alienware employees have to turn in their cellphones when comes to work but somebody broke the rules.

I'd go with the sli option if I had the money to burn. No point of buying alienware if you don't max out the gpus. As for the ati cards, I am curious about whether there will be mobo versions of their newly released 3800 series any time soon.

ugh, shiny plastic anywhere on a laptop sucks, even on the bottom. i hope they maintane the black carbon look of the m9750 that prevents fingerprints. i also hope they keep the rigid chasis with zero keyboard flex like the m9750 otherwise this new laptop will be a huge dissapointment.

    Nice info , thanks .

Aliens apparently have the same alphabet as the English language .

I think its kinda childish but apart from that even the underside is more stylish then any DELLs and most other notebooks .

It would be interesting to compare with the original ODM notebook .

i want to note that i do not see any connectivity ports on the back of this laptop based on these pictures. the gpu and cpu compartments are at the back so i am pretty sure i am viewing this correctly.

glossy plastic and no ports on the back, not even the ac power connection. this is looking bad so far.

monday will be front photos hopefully...i swear if they add a good front with multicolored blinking LEDs...i'll pay them extra just for that....LiteFX was the only thing good about xps...maybe they should put that in m17x or have it as an option

Does anyone know if alienware normally lets orders begin right as they reveal a new product, or do they wait before actually making available for order? I'm very curious, as I plan on ordering the 15.4" version as early as possible. Anyone have any thoughts?

I had to wait 3 weeks to receive my dell m1730 and finally got it friday. It was horribly slow and the video cards would always stop responding even on games like world of warcraft. I saw the news about the new m17x alienware and just got off the phone with dell and they are picking it up for return tomorrow :D.

My only concern with alienware vs dell is customer support and service? as you can see dell has no problem taking back their laptop (no restocking fee) but i heard horror stories in the past about alienware not replacing dead pixel screens and adding restocking fees on returns. has that all changed when dell bought them out?

It seems the bottom chassis of the new AW laptops are using the plexi glass type of materials, the same thats found on the Logitech Dinovo Edge keyboard. It definitely looks unique though. Very curious as to what the top part looks like.

M17X looks badass. they shouldn't have released the Ripley as it looks hideous and seems out of place in Alienware's lineup.

keyboard reminds me of motorola's razr.. maybe the same guy worked on m17x after designing the m1330?
