Go to power options and check that it is set to High Performance mode, not Balanced or Power Saver.

You just bought it? As in it's under warranty? If so... call Dell :)

Lol, "Best laptop in the universe" is just an advertisement and is not true what so ever.

M18x is the best "laptop" if you call it a laptop in the universe, because of the power.

Also you bought a R2 which is no longer manufactured and most likely a refurbished, that is why you are having problems with it.

Hello Ahmed, Try checking to see in GPU-Z to see if crossfire is enabled or disabled(Available) or Disabled. Then check to see what clocks you are running at sometimes the 5870's will run in 2Dclocks when settings are changed or if you mess with the crossfire. Did you also download the newest CAPS?

No, before the M18x this was marketed as "The Most Powerful Laptop In The Universe", so no need for the snippy comments. Also, don't make assumptions about his issues. Refurbs are not always bad, and The R2 is not that far off from an M18x. Sometimes I wish I could down vote people, your post was extremely unhelpful and unnecessary.

That is fine Instead of crossfire just see if SLI is enabled using the same method I posted above with GPU-Z. Check to see what the score is with a synthetic benchmark like Vantage or 3DMark06. Maybe a mod can move your thread to the M17x sub forum you will get more help there I am sure. Instead of CAPS see if you have the latest SLI profile.

First update the drivers to latest nvidia beta, get the verde notebook package (there's a thread here in this section). 280.19 beta.
After a clean install of them go into nvidia control panel and check if Sli is enabled under Sli and Physx configuration. You may need to reboot.
After you rebooted, go again in nvidia control panel.
    Go into manage 3d settings.
Set display to Single Display Mode and set power management to Prefer maximum performance (should be adaptive).
Then run your tests again and let us known.
Also you may need latest chipset drivers. In this case google "intel chipset software utility" and download the zip format one.
Extract it and create a shortcut to setup.exe. Go into proprieties and add the parameter -overall (it should like setup.exe -overall).

Ps: before upgrading to newer drivers I advice to first unistall the display driver from add/remove in windows.
Then don't reboot yet: instead run driver sweeper, check nvidia display and chipset, then hit analyze and clean.
Now reboot and install the newer betas.

Download and run 3Dmark06 it sounds like your SLI is not working. We need to see if it is and your score will tell us that.

Alright I just did the Test and here are the results from the program 3Dmark06

My score is 14979 3D marks and it says my SLI is enabled,

Maybe my Computer speccs arent good enough to run Assassins Creed on high Graphics ?
    THANKS

I would call dell.. Dell has pretty good international support and wherever you live i guess it should have something... I think the best thing you can do is uninstall old drivers , run driver sweeper and reinstall new ones. Also update directx.

MKELLINY, I think my SLI only works in some applications,

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7 Mobile,Alienware score: 15087 3DMarks

these are my results, in the first 2 games/apps (Whatever) i get the same if I disable sLI but in the CANYON FLIGHT one I get double the FPS (94) up from (44) when I enable SLI :D

Yes that is about right for dual 285's. Your SLI is working fine in 06.

    Blizzard Support

Are SLI or XFIRE features supported for multiple video cards?
Yes, these are supported features although that does not necessarily translate to higher performance.

If you changed drivers or SLI profiles I would go back to what worked previously.
