    No, I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.

    A Clevo is one thing, an Alienware is a completely different thing. Unlike, dekstops, you usually can't mix and match between brands.

    As far as I know, the different iterations of a laptop (R1, R2, R3, etc) are also quite different, so you can't install even an Alienware's R4 GPU in an Alienware R1 without switching power supply, let alone if the connections themselves are compatible.

    So in short - no. Sorry.

    well, r1's took 5870m but no one managed to put 6990m from what I read.. so I guess not :(

    I believe vBios plays a factor in whether it can be upgraded, I believe the best card an R1 can take is a 5870M, and Crossfire can be acheived.

    A 560M and 570M work in the M17x (R1) but with an external monitor (driver issue).

    A 680M might work, even SLi since it doesn't have a Intel chipset ;)

    All M17x's have MXM 3.0 B slots with the R3 & R4 being single GPU, non Aluminium chassis systems.

    The first M17x is lo limited on GPU upgrade!!! Only the CF 5870 has been tested to work properly.. :( . I wish there were a few more options
