I'm looking for a way to improve visuals and performance at the same time, this is differant then the last thread I posted it's unique but I need testers
here it is
xk drivers.rar download - 2shared
please report back with results as they may vary from gpu to gpu
mods this thread is differant in that im seeking feedback only to improve gaming experiencel

...
Why don't you explain exactly the changes made to this driver and what should be tested? -
1)It runs in Frame buffer mode and uses a faster gpu memory timing.
2)It has tweaked aa for higher quality AA(ratios were left the same but method is box vs standard
3)stock performance goes up a little in benchmarks
4) recent games see fairly large increaes in frame rates 2-5fps
5) overclocking potential has been upped by disabling block write
6) 50 other tweaks which I cannot remember as I spent over 50 hours tweaking and adding settings AMD left out for reasons such as optimising only the hottest games vs overall improvement.
7) im no genius that much is clear but I know a little bit about what im doing and through testing which anyone can do and long hours anyone can achieve higher performing drives through hard work vs brains. -

Is this basically a modded form of the 12.11 beta11 then? What do you mean by "uses faster gpu memory timing?" I wasn't aware you could overclock via drivers (I'm assuming you meant something else though)
-
2. This will help nothing unless you use AA. One method must be faster w/lower image quality or compatibility or they would have it on by default.
3. OK
4. OK
5. Are you over clocking? That would explain 3 and 4.
6. You should keep track of these if you expect to be thorough, scientific and credible.
7. Mostly agree. Keep snipping at the lawn with your scissors eventually you'll cut them all. -
50 of those tweaks = reduce or disable some features?
-

failwheel. thats an assumption that is in correct. you can add features amd left out, actually I i took out nothing only added.
try it and leave feedback is the name of the game or the mods will shut it down, im just looking for feedback from ati users with different cards windows 7 and 8. one member i gave it to saw gains so i must be doing something right. im not taking anything out or deleting stuff please do not assume so much as it does no good for anyone reading this as the statement is completly untrue and unfounded only presumptious
-
Awesome work man! I would test this out but my laptop uses an AMD 4000 series GPU and can only play older games. I wonder is these same things could be used on desktop cards?
-
Does it support Crossfire ? I would be very cautious about running modified drivers without you basically telling me what tweaks you have done ?
-
dont try it then.
ps i didnt touch xfire settings -

Welcome Back edit
edit its failwheeldrive {typed what i was thinking}... its not failbrain to those that read before the edit -
How much did you gain with this tweak?
-
lol. after 50 hours like 50 points in vantage. 0.1-0.5 fps in farcry 3. not much
but then agian im no amd programmer and it goes to show how well they develope their drivers yet everyone complains about crappy amd drivers.
ps someone with a weak gpu tried them out and saw decent gains, it's most probable these drivers will only help with weak gpus.
when testing I would tweak one setting and see a gain or loss of about .25 fps and over 50 or so tweaks you would think the gains would all add up to a massive increase, but what happens is you get nothing and for no apparent reason. I think amd has them locked so people cannot tweak them similar to amd locking the 6990ms voltage.
I will try again today and focus on raising the min framerate vs overall and see if I can get a decent gain say 10-20 percent raise in min framerate. more benifical
I think this is possible as with far cry fiddling with settings I raised the min from 17fps to 22 fps which is a pretty big gain. trying for overall I could only gain about .5fps fraps would show a 1fps increase but it rounds up. and in turn misleading people into thinking they are getting the 5 percent increase when in fact its only about 2 percent.
props to me for at least trying and props to me for helping people with weak gpus. one guy saw a 100-200 point gain in 3dmark11 not knowing i didn't touch tesslation or aa ect, I only fiddle with vpurecover blockwrite ect settings, only settings that are features not graphical settings, which might explain why the increase is so small.
However keep in mind It is very possible to create DOX like drivers for AMD. just alot of testing and time. fortunately im retired -
I just tested stock 13.2 beta with my tweaked version
calico got 36.79 and with my newest tweaked I got 37.31 on calico so some improvement at least thats with 16x EQ AF -
You have to document these 50 tweaks you keep talking about and what each one is and what effect it has. You are going to continue to not be taken seriously unless you do this. Just trying to help you.
Start a spreadsheet. -
I gave up. task is impossible as vantage and other benchmarks are unstable and fluctuate. I will do what you said if you can find a benchmark that doesnt fluctuate
-
yesssssssssssssssssss
I found a way, feature test 3 in vantage is consistant=epic tweaking time
I will make a driver that is much better than stock I'll keep track and post the tweaks when im done..
be back in a week
All ati users windows 7 and 8 can you do me a favor?
