Ok, so I want to try out dx10 on my laptop with company of heroes. I downloaded all the patches and all that. But when I go to change the settings under graphics, everything is pretty much locked.

If I try to select Direct 3d 10, it is grayed out. But I'm running Vista Home Premium SP1 with a 8600M GT running the 174.31 drivers.

Even when I try to click on automatic settings, as soon as I let go, it unchecks itself and custom settings remains checked. What the hell is going on?

Maybe you have your GPU set to override in-game settings? That's my best guess.

Are you running in compatibility mode of XP or maybe you edited its .ini (tweaked it) for performance.

What do I need to check? I looked over everything and nothing seems to be out of order.

Nope. Everything is default, so no compatibility mode and I haven't touched the ini file.

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, under 3D Settings>Adjust image settings with preview, make sure the "Let the 3D application decide" radio button is selected.

    Tried that. No change.

    It's already set to that.
