I reckon people are looking at this wrong - Crysis on low settings will match a game like Rainbow Six:Vegas or Splinter Cell :DA (or any next-gen-ish game out at the moment) on medium or high settings. So even if it's set on low settings, it will still look lush as hell! Just trying to make a few of us with decent GFX cards feel a little bit better, I mean I'm definitely assuming that my 7900GS will handle Crysis at a reasonable rate, i.e. low-ish textures and details, no AA, some shadows, and as many post-process effects as I can possibly turn on (probably not HDR though, if Crysis supports it).

So cheer up guys, Crysis will still look lovely even if its not on max. settings!

I wouldn't say that's entirely true, although it is just speculation. Take Battlefield 2 for example, when that came out it was a beautiful game - yet running the game on all low settings, it actually looked worse then the original Battlefield 1942 on mid-high settings!

I guess most/all know the original post and info contained in it are erroneous, and actually, the 8800gtx does quite well in Crysis. The report was confirmed that a single 8800gtx and a Core 2 Duo processor was running Crysis at 1920x1200 with around 60fps, not bad.

Also, please note that any Ubisoft-published game is trash, so please don't compare any of their games to Crysis, BF2, UT3, etc. :D

We'll ignore for a minute that Ubisoft published Far Cry and will likely be publishing Crysis. ;)

And hell, if an 8800GTX can do Crysis at 1920x1200, I figure my 8800GTS should be just fine at 1680x1050.

    I hope. :)

errr yeah like EA dont publish trash games, C&C Zero Hour had so many random bugs it made the game better when somehow it renders a map and forgets the bridge or the lake or something lol or nfs mw that crashed on me 100 times at the end chase just as im about to jump the bridge. and lets not mention nfs carbon

never had much issues with farcry though but cant remember any other ubisoft games so sure they mightve been crap lol

doesnt matter who releases crysis as long as its as good as we see it to be!

I think they delayed the release date till more DX10 getting more popular to handle this huge visual game.

From Marketing point of view there is no way on the earth this game will only run in new DX10 GPUs.

So why are they keep delaying it?

For optimization IMO.Because it's a very important phase and can turn out to be unpredictable. The programmers might be forced to rewrite some parts of the code.

Don't you think they delayed it to make it runs pretty good in mid-range GPUs and DX9?

That's what optimization is about. To lower the load on the GPU and CPU so more people could enjoy the game. And this process sometimes turns out to be really tedious and time consuming.
