This thread is to see what people think of Alone in the Dark. I don't know how many people know this, but the game has recieved mix reviews. After playing a portion of the game, I was shocked at some of the low scores, like 3.5, that were given to the game. The game features a good story, great dialogue, beautiful graphics, ability to use and combine items, different puzzles to solve, driving, and the list continues. I would personally give this game an 8.5, and that is only because the contols can get a little tricky. I want to see what others think of the game because I don't believe that it has recieved the good reputation that it deserves.

there are better games out there but it's not a bad game by any means. it's a solid action game that requires little bit of patience. it's one of those games that you wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others but you still want to play it yourself and at least give credit to the dev for their effort lol.

its out for the PC??!! fill me in please! i was waiting for this and dead space!
Personally i'm looking for eyecandy more than gameplay ^^ -
Been getting bad -- average reviews. Seems the ideas they put in the game look good on paper but fail when implemented. There are also reports of it being very buggy and the control scheme being horrible.
But hey, if your a fan of the series then go for it, the graphics do look nice. -
well. thats a no then i think... i'll stick to RE4

the game is ok.
if you love that type of games you may wanna look at
resident evil series:
better graphics, better storyline, better gameplay and controls too -
I haven't played it.... yet

okay.. how about the performance?

I am running the game on all high settings @ 1280 X 800, and the game runs great. Judging by your specs, brainer, it should run great on your system if not better. Graphics are really nice, and the environment is very detailed. I do prefer using the XBOX 360 controller over the mouse for this game.

Alright thanks for your Feedback Zee
-
Brainer, should run great on your SLi 7950GTX's.
Seriously man, I keep virtually following you around... it's sabotage... -
Was about to say so
... are you S.T.A.L.K.I.N.G me?

I rented this game for a week till I threw it back in the mailbox.
Main gripes are it's absolutely horrible controls (console version). When I want to aim, I don't want to switch to FPS mode every single time (just stick to over the shoulder view!) Melee attacking should never be assigned to a D-stick. I don't know how many times I missed enemies because the controller didn't capture my motion. Moving around itself is considerably difficult because of the fixed camera angles and slow, tank-like character movement (i.e. Resident Evil 1)
Minor gripes is the subpar fighting system (Apparently, only fire kills them...) Puzzles are too easy. Level design is too erratic (can go from very easy to constantly reloading after annoying deaths). Car physics are laughable. Story is decent, but the dialogue is undoubtedly ripped from some cheesy B-movie.
This could have been a great game if it had more polish, but sadly it was rushed out the door. -
I do agree what you have to say about the fighting aspect. It feels like everything is slowed down, but I did get used to it. In my opinion, the dialogue is good; kind of feels like you are in the movie.

Wow, it seems like I'm the only person who thinks that this game is really good besides the ackward controls...
