Alt + Tab Steam Games Issue

Not sure if it is all steam games but the two I have been playing lately, TF2 and Left 4 Dead.

I can alt+tab out of the game fine, I get to my desktop almost instantly, but when I tab back into the game I never get video.

Its not a long wait, and there is nothing loading its fast, I am actually in the game as I can hear it and when I move the cursor I can hear it interacting with icons in the menu's and things. But I never get video back just an image of the desktop or windows I was looking at before I tabbed back into the game.

Really sucks as sometimes I want to change say my audio settings on my xfi control panel and have to exit the game to do it.

Anybody have this problem and/or know a solution?

 

I have Left for dead but I dont think that I ever encoutered this problem.
Yes I checked it now and I dont have this problem it works fine.

 

I always have issues with steam games. More then half the time I try to play an orange box game it crahses. I tried windowed mode and its great but still very buggy.

My sound card is great lol, I think I figured it out.

I was alt/tabing fine today after turing off D3DOveridder that comes with RivaTuner, I use it to lock my fps @ 60 frames but I think it was what caused the issue though not with every game, the main game I used it for was Dead Space and I can alt/tab in that game with no problems.
