Am I right in saying that new mobile graphic cards are right around the corner?

I'm curious about DX10 mobile graphics as well. I hope they migrate soon. I was going to buy a laptop this last summer, but with waiting for Merom, then DX10 on the horizon and no having a pressing need - I decided to wait. However, it'd be nice to be able to do presentation work on my computer, and just bring it in to hook it up.

I wonder what the performance will be compared to backwards 7xxx series graphics will be. The heat envelope on 8xxx compared to 7xxx is quite a significant factor, I worry about the mobile gpu getting nudered in order to usher it into notebook form.

CES recently also revealed G83 and G82 will be released sometime in April/May. So by the time notebook manufacturers start putting these GPUs in, it would be 2nd half of 2007.

Saurian: The 8xxx series offers quite a bit better performance/watt than 7xxx, so I don't think that will be a problem. They can cut it down to the same thermal envelope and still have better performance.
