Amazon has launched their digital download service for games ( finally!). Previously this was only available to US citizens. Took them, what, it must be at least 5 years to bring the same service across the pond. Boy, did they take their sweet sweet time. Better late than never though. More competition is always welcome. Perhaps this will help drive down costs of PC games even further! I certainly hope so![]()

Oh, joy. Now I'm even more inclined to use my Amazon credit card.
Good news, I suppose. -

Don't see how Steam be better than Amazon... Amazon is just selling games, many of them either having steam keys or steamworks game... So why bother acting immature with Steam > Amazon. If you want to say no to Amazon game sales, your problem alone, a stupid one at that.

#2: I didn`t say Steam was better. I put "?" after just to ask for opinions. Which Cakefish understood perfectly.
#3: Your whole post reeks of immaturity, not by the fact that you can`t read, but also because you couldn`t handle that people asked if Steam was better. -
glad to see it's finally spread across the pond. I ended up buying BL2 for PC even though i owned a copy on xbox because i was able to pick up game +dlc for less than $20.
I've yet to see a digital item that isn't just a steam key, though. -

I'm surprised it took Amazon that long to bring that to the U.K. I'm in the camp that sees Amazon as a nice, sometimes-better alternative to Steam. I like that Amazon has no client you have to install like Steam does; just a .exe and an installation. And when they do have Steam key sales, it can be cheaper than Steam itself. -

Origin does have some advantages over Steam, notably faster and less buggy downloads from my experience and the ability to hide games from your library. Steam still provides much more functionality overall though along with far greater selection of games, usually with more competitive pricing. I currently use Origin only for the Origin exclusives. Maybe that will change in the future, but i can't see it happening anytime soon unless EA really ramp up their game.

Zymphad has pretty rough reading comprehension, but that certainly doesn't stop him from tossing out indignant, insulting responses.

And he generally puts you on his ignore list if you disagree or have an argument with him. Seems a bit childish. Anyway back on topic again......

Steam is not greater than Amazon or vice versa, it's apples and oranges. What they have in common is they are both fruit (aka digital game distributions), they separate by what else they provide with the distributions (flavor). Steam has a huge gaming community with a plethora of features for the community to interact with their fellow gamers, Amazon has a store front and generic consumer forums. Both will have sales here and there dirt cheap.
There shouldn't have been any comparison to ask about when the theme of the thread is that more buying options have opened up for the UK with Amazon digital services, Steam is already there. The post was bait and Zymphad had his hook in the water. Congrats across the pond, I'm happy more deal potential has opened up for you, I've been enjoying the purchasing there. -
I should have clarified my earlier statement. Instead of saying I had never seen anything that wasn't a steam code, what i meant to say was I hadn't seen any games sold by amazon that wasnt either a physical copy or a key to a digital download on a separate service (steam, origin)
As for the whole steam><amazon<><origin, i'd="" like="" to="" sidestep="" that="" debate.="" if="" none="" of="" those="" services="" float="" your="" fancy,="" we="" still="" have="" gog.com,="" greenmangaming,="" and="" two="" my="" personal="" favourites,="" humblebundle.com="" indieroyale.com
Also, nothing in any of those services EULA states that you have to be monogamous in your game shopping. Be a gamer skank and use all of them!</origin,></amazon<> -
I read this title thinking "wait a minute, haven't I been ordering digital downloads from amazon for years?". Had no idea it wasn't available outside of US...
-
looks like the service now expanded to the UK. Recently Amazon and GMG tend to beat Steam sale price by a good 10-20% with or without their discount codes. Origin (and most upcoming uPlay games) will be only redeemable on their respective platform if you dont buy from steam.

check out slickdeals.com regularly as well

Not having shopped games on Amazon before I hope their "regional pricing" isn't as messed up as Steams.. though I guess it's the same publishers so just wishful thinking -
For all the non-Americans - in the States, you can order basically anything on Amazon, including groceries, and if you're a Prime member, it ships for free in two days, or overnight for $4. It's awesome.
Anyway, I'll join in with others' sentiments and say that I didn't know Amazon had limited the service to US accounts. Pro tip - when Steam does a large sale, always be sure to check out Amazon's deals. They try hard to compete with Steam on pricing on those and other games, and in many times you can just go back to Steam and redeem the key.
Amazon starts selling digital download games!
