First you will see the 7850 & 7890 which are the 6970 & 6990 rebrand

If it is actually mxm3.0b board and has lower power consumption it would be great card for M17x R2 to overclock with overclocked 920/940xm processor without needing to resort to dual power brick.

If by rebrand you mean die shrink then yes but it will be a performance gain over said cards none the less, even if its small. These cards are going to have a lower TDP and hopefully more headroom. I have seen some different leaked specs that peg the 78xx cards as having the GCN architecture which isn't just a strait die shrink. Other leaked charts floating around out there have the mobile part and 78xx as VLIW4 so only time will tell. I think we will see a Radeon HD7000 desktop part by November but everything is just rumors right now.

New DX build and new process technology = no renaming beyond the lowest cards from AMD. -
I'm trying to see if I have enough willpower to hold out until 2013 for Haswell; But Ivy Bridge and these new 28nm GPU's are going to make it difficult!
