Just make sure you have steam installed and a working steam account. Click on that link i posted above, login to your steam account and click on preload and than click on 'Yes I have steam Installed' to start the preload :)

Oh ok... A little different... Played the first one many years ago, seemed ok. Might have to give this one a go if time permits.

I'm not a big fan of steam since it requires me to stick to the account and application to run a game I’ve bought or downloaded through steam. The funny thing is that with my dislike of steam I happen to own more than one account with various different games purchased, not once but a few times around on each account (letting my brother or friend play on either). Anyhow, thanks for the information, but unfortunately for me my brother just started using my 1st steam account again while my friend is too attached to my 2nd steam account. I guess that means I have to wait on the release date. :(

Well, I only have one account since the day hl2 was released and I have mods and bought many things and I never had any problems. Steam is actually one of my fav things :)

Looks interesting! I never really played the older ones, but this one might interest me alittle more (graphics is much better!). :D And it's free!

Is there a non-steam version? I refuse to install that pile of crap.

Whoohoo, can't wait. Hopefully it will bring back some players to a dying game.
Yes, there will be a separate deploy client released by the game itself on release day, but believe me, their past deploy clients have been crap and caused a lot of problems, so choose your poison. ;)

I don't see why anyone who enjoys FPS games shouldn't give it a "try" since it's a FREE game!
A few days ago I spent $60 on the German version of ArmA II because I enjoy combat games and although America's Army isn't as much of a simulator as ArmA II I would have waited until it's full release if I knew America's Army 3 was going to be released so earily.

Imo, go with steam over the deploy client. With steam in general I get rates of around 1.2 MB/s, but the stupid deploy client averaged 50 k/s on the same T1 connection!

I am really pumped about this. Preload it now on Steam if you want to play right when it is released!

I played the earlier one but couldnt finish the parashooting training, i tried at least 50 times and it kept saying i failed :(

They talk non stop about how realistic the game is, but i think that the soldiers move way too fast as seen in the trailer, when your carrying a weapons and a full backpack, you'll hardly manage to walk at full stride let alone run further than 10m.

The hardest was the E&E training for special forces...sucks to crawl for 20 mins and get spotted when you are within view of the end.

The soldiers in AA don't carry a full backpack, just a buttpack and the medic has an extra backpack. But I think AA is reasonably realistic, without making it unentertaining. In RL, I think that if someone shot you in the leg, you wouldn't go yellow/red, keep moving forward with the rest of your squad and hope the medic responds to your cries for help. You'd probably be lying on the ground out of action waiting for the medic. But that would make for a pretty awful gaming experience and no one would play that kind of game, and that would defeat the purpose of AA. As fps_doug said "But what happens if I get lag out there? I'm dead! I mean, I even heard that there's no respawn points in RL".

ARMA 2 is by the same developer and a great game... I think they put alot more effort into their own game, I'm also really excited for Operation Flashpoint 2

Ok I was correct on a level, the engine that the US army uses for their game is based on Bohemia Interactives Engine....

"VBS2™ is to become a new training simulator game to be used in the US Army, dubbed "Game After Ambush" (VBS2 is supposed to replace previously used video game "DARWARS Ambush" that is also based on Bohemia Interactive's technology), that will allow soldiers to drive virtual vehicles, fire virtual weapons and pilot virtual unmanned aerial vehicles in combat situations. The contract for "Game After Ambush" was awarded late December '08 to software developers Laser Shot, of Texas, Bohemia Interactive, of the Czech Republic, and Australia-based Calytrix Technologies."

ArmA II is developed by Bohemia Interactive while America's Army is made by the US Army. ArmA II is a military simulation game based on VBS (Virtual Battlespace Systems) which is a 3D training system for military and government agencies. While Bohemia Interactive does make games for the US Military they did not create America's Army.

America's Army isn't a military simulation game, but a recruitment tool for the US Army. For this reason America's Army is semi-realistic, because the US government through the fast paced gameplay of America's Army aims to create a fun and appealing environment in order to recruit its audience, while military simulation games such as ArmA II are more hardcore and sustain a smaller player base.

Wow, I was almost positive when I read about Americas Army 3 it was also produced in association with Bohemia Interactive... I must be losing it
