I've had this laptop for about a year now. This was one of the original in the series and only one hard drive.

So for the laptop has worked somewhat well, but now that I bought Medieval Total War 2 the laptop shut down within 1,5 hours and doesn't restart until after I wait awhile. I've been considering sending this laptop back to FSC!

    Anyone else experiencing the same?

Edit: Within 1,5 hours as I play the game, i ment

Maybe something to do with overheating. How are your temperatures for the Go 6800 card, and the processor. It may be that the fan isn't quite working correctly, and the bearings may have worn out.

    Thank you for replying Zero!

As the game shuts down, the PC seems very hot (but that is subjective?). As the laptop cools down for a moment and I restart, the graphic card temps show about 69 degrees.

The fans "huffs-and-puffs" occasionally, so you may be right Zero.

It does sound a lot like a heating problem. Have you ever opened up your computer to dust it out? Maybe you should try.

If the graphics card is at 69 degrees after the notebook turns back on, then it would seem that it is overheating. See if you can measure the temperature, whilst playing the game.

If the fan is not functioning properly, then you may be able to ask Fujitsu Siemens to replace it, provided your notebook is still under warranty. If not, then you can still ask Fujitsu Siemens, where you can buy a fan. Also, it might help if you use a cooling pad. They can really help reduce the temperature of the notebook.

Yes the warranty is still on. I will call Fujitsu-Siemens tomorrow and simply tell them that the laptop shuts down under normal use. This has to go within the warranty, not?

And it's very very hard to measure the temperature while playing and I will not try that unless absolutely necessary.

TlV, good idea but unfortunately I will loose the warranty if I open this myself.

Yes, thats probably the est thing to do. If the notebooks still under warranty, then its pointless to do something yourself. Just let Fujitsu Siemens take care of it. I think the claim should work, as you can't play games on it, without it overheating.

Run the game and have Rivatuner monitor temps in the background. Easy enough. And dusting out the fan may be easier and certainly more pleasant than sending it it and waiting for days or weeks for it to return.
