So ive been told my 8400M GT is on the verge of death.

However there are some instances where i can play a game without any blue lines or distorted images. these instances would last like 1 hour before crashing but i can still play fine. At this point, my display adapter "is working properly" according to windows.

There are some other instances where my comp would boot up with blue vertical lines and have really weird imaging. At this point, in my device manager, my display adapter has been forced shut off by windows.

is this an issue of heat? If the Sony repair guy is going to comeover i want him to see the problem and not have the instance in which it is working fine.

If you guys need clarification please post. i know its very confusing. Its like my card is switching between life and death :S

The issue is, some of the connections/solder of the GPU have cracked and are kind-of half connected. It cracked because the temperature of the material went up and down too much/many times for this certain flawed material and they became brittle.

Well, that's the way I've heard it.

That is a problem, but it is when the GPU is stressed that you will see it, and it should start to happen more frequently and in less stressful applications until the card completely dies. Download Furmark and see how long it will take to crash during the stress test. That's the simplest way I know offhand to show the tech that it is crashing form heat/stress.
