Anticipated PC games of 2013?

I think 2013 is gonna be a huge year for games, just like 2011 was. 2012 was sorta a dud, with alot of titles delayed to 2013.

What PC games are you looking forward to in 2013?

My picks:

- Total War Rome 2
- Bioshock Infinite
- Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swam
- Grid 2

 

crysis 3? but my most eagerly awaited one is certainly rome 2, just loooove the total war series. its the only serie of games i pay for full price right on release

 

South Park
Crysis 3
Dragon Age 3 (This time with FB 2 and I hope they learned their lesson from DA2 debacle)
Command & Conquer (Running on FB 2, curious if EA will have destroyed another franchise)

If they come out in 2013 then watch dogs and just cause 3.

there wasn't a good racing game here for along time so I can't wait till Project C.A.R.S will be out. So far from the beta videos I'we seen it looks beutiffle. Was aslo wainting for Stalker 2, but as that was cancelled, hope Metro :Last light will do the thing.And offcourse games that was already mentioned: Grid 2, Crysis 3, Watch dogs, and if deffinitely Battleifeld 4-if it will be in 2013 that is.

I love the TW games, but seriously a cut of the money that goes to creative assembly needs to go to the modders.

How can you say that 2011 was meh for gaming when one of the most played games according to steam stats is Skyrim?

 

Starscream was proposing that 2012 was a "meh" year, not 2011.

Not sure if I would agree with that assessment, however, in my case the only 2012 games I've had a chance to play, Dishonored and Far Cry 3, were both pretty good.

People are completely wasted, there's almost no such thing as a "meh" year in gaming, the masses are spitting out gamers faster than we can game them. I've actually stopped myself from purchasing any more games.. need to finish the old ones.

 

Agree. Just like movies. People tend to criticize modern movies, but let's be honest, good and bad movies were always there, today, yesterday or in 1972.

2012 had one of my fav games, Far Cry 3...but that doesn't mean its not a meh year

compared to 2011, 2012 had a much much thinner portfolio of top games...thats indisputable

 

For me this year was a disappointment simply because so many games were delayed until next year. On the bright side, it did save my bank account from annihilation!

Here's my most anticipated PC games of next year, roughly in order of excitedness (just invented that word)

Metro: Last Light
Lost Planet 3

 

For me it's this game. I'm super excited about it and I can't wait till it comes out...

Gabe will find you and assassinate you. Half-Life 3 is going to be the game of the year, if not everyone is going to die. Think of it as the new "2012 end of the world" just with Gabe as the destroyer. I am not kidding.

 

I like my HL games that way.

 

That's like getting mad at a hot dog for having a bun.

 

I don't see the correlation at all. Even an amateur wouldn't shoot a rifle from the hips, everyone would raise the gun up to aim down the barrel/sights. And with ANY shooter made in the last half dozen years takes that into account, and almost all have some recoil. Maybe it's because the Source engine sucks so bad. Only a Source game like CS would you be able to shoot someone pin point with just cross hair shooting from the hips.

 

*Insert Call of Duty perks + SMG joke*

CS just did it amazingly unrealistic, that's the beauty of it. But sure, if you didn't like HL2 or just the Source Engine as it's being used by Valve, HL3 is definitely out of bounds for you.

With the exception of Bioshock Infinite and Half Life 3, both of which I'll buy when they're sub-$10, I don't really see any titles popping up here that sound all that interesting to me. I guess that's a good thing, though; I can catch up with my backlog and maybe just spend less time gaming in general without feeling like I'm missing out on anything.

 

I heard that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is also due for PC

 

The correlation is that that's how source games are.

CS:S, hl2, tf2, gmod and the dozens of mods

I don't see how else to explain this. That waist crosshair shooting is what every source game is based on.

 

Just been playing Doom 3 BFG edition. It is an amazing game considering how old it is. Much better than some of the rubbish put out in 2012.

And to the Dragon Age 3 folk : there is a good news, the game should not be expected before 2014 (announced like 2 or 3 weeks ago). Why a good news ? Because what killed DA2 was the rush. We could all - at least if you tried to play it rather objectively - feel that there was potential, but yeah, rush killed it. So the more they delay it, the higher the chance it'll have the quality of DAO.

 

Somehow I don't think it's gonna take long. At least for HL to get that low. I remember I got Portal 2 for 5EUR like half year later after its release.

 

The Source engine sucks? It was absolutely revolutionary when it was released, and honestly it still looks fairly pretty, has tons of mod support. Look at the number of immensely successful titles running off the source engine. Its probably the most revolutionary engine release of the last decade.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but remember its not the aim down sights that is part of the engine. Day of defeat (source) is on the same engine that has aim down sights feature. I got into the same argument here earlier, so don't really wanna get into it again... but Its a gameplay feature and valve would probably be DDOS'ed by millions of angry fans if they implemented some crap like that in a CS title.

Honestly the recent crop of shooters (BF3, cod, moh) all have really crappy Aim down sight mechanisms that simply slow and dumb down gameplay by offering magical reductions in recoil when aiming down sights. I fail to see what it adds to the game. The 'realism' argument doesn't work because the games implementing the feature are hardly ARMA or Operation Flashpoint.

Anyway, VALVE is probably the only remaining developer I can be sure of making a revolutionary experience and a sure-fire hit. HL3 is highly unlikely to be coming out next year but if announced, its a pre-order on Day 1 for me. And I have never pre-ordered a game in my life.

 

When it was released, almost 10 years ago now, it was revolutionary. Now it's extremely meh.

 

After looking at some other entries, Bioshock Infinite, Doom 4 (if released), and Solid Snake all sound great.

I'm definitely excited about battlefield 4 and grand theft auto 5.

 

BF4 is a definite pass. BC2 hit detection was alpha stage. BF3 hit detection is still alpha. I expect BF4 to be the same.

 

The next bad company will be awesome too, I forgot about that.

 

There will be no "next" Bad Company. They merged Battlefield and Bad Company franchise.
