Okay, I feel like I have to upgrade my GT 130M now. What I wonder is, I know the HD6770M 1GB GDDR5 is kind off the king of the hill. But however, I don't like ATI. What I wonder at this point is; are there any nVidia card MXM A that matches this ATI card? Now, a little diffrence in price does not matter.
The reason why I don't prefer ATI card is I had one back in years, and it was problematic, both with drivers, and it kept crashing on me, so I got a kind of hate relationship to it. However, this was years ago.
This is for the laptop in my signature.

since you're talking about mxm you're on a laptop, right?
you can go for a GTX260M/GTX280M -
Yes. I'm also talking about 'M' there. Well, you seen GTX260M or GTX280M in MXM III factor and with a BIOS chip? I haven't.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
you could try the gt 555m, however I would still go for AMD, I dont care for whatever purpose the thing is going to be used, it is stil the best bang for the buck

What I know:
There is two diffrent 'kinds' of this card one with: 144 cores 709MHz, 128Bit GDDR5. Found in MSI GT780R. 144 cores 590MHz (GF106), 192Bit DDR3. Found in Dell XPS 17, Alienware M14x. I have been looking for the GDDR5, but not found anything, either about MXM or about availability. But, I did read that some of thise models are not upgradeable as it also haves the Optimius technology. Any thoughts? -
There is a 260m in MXM III. PM pkhetan and ask. He has some ties to the industry and has been able to procure products for people.

However, that was a quick notebookcheck look.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
However while the hd6770m will deliver good performance AND dx11, gtx260m will be limited to DX10, also is ddr3.
GTX260m (it doesnt even exist in GTS form) is the desktop 8800GT, with 256bit bus badwidth, coupled with 1gb of vram and 112 cuda cores.
Its still a level 1 class card, but is getting old, none the less.
It overclocks fairly good too, but its up to you. Instead of upgrading maybe i would sell your current laptop and aim for a new one directly.
Dual cores are going towards their limit in gaming and professional apps, maybe its worth to consider the jump. -
I dont think the 555 is in mxm. As kingpinzero said dual cores are getting old and maybe a jump forward is needed? I can only say good things about the xps 17 which has a good current sandy bridge quad core.

You don't like ATI why?
pros:
less TDP for the same performance
less house-fires
significantly cheaper
cons:
worse drivers
less "mainstream" -
the 260m GTX is still quite a decent card. It basically has the same power output as the 9800m GTX's, which I was using until about a month or so ago and was still playing most games on high at 1900x1200 resoultion (17").
Also like was previously mentioned, they overclock fairly well. -
Back on topic: I advise to wait a bit more and get a new computer altogether. Soon your dual core will become the bottleneck. -

GTX260M is MXM-B.
555M has only ever been released as an MXM-B card. (MSI variant, same core as 460M but with units disabled and wont clock properly without bios support)
I very much doubt it will fit in your notebook as IIRC it has no extra vertical room.
You have 4 options:
1. Buy a new notebook.
2. Buy a 6770M.
3. Spend more on a GTS250M which is less than half the speed.
4. Keep what you have. -
Can get it up to about 3.5Ghz, which is good
But, it is most likely going to end up as you first say, before I bought this, T9900 and 6770M
Also, I would say that I have seen no limiting by my CPU so far, what so ever. Also, buying a GPU is much much cheaper for me as I can order it from USA, but I cannot order a whole computer from USA. And here in Norway, things are really expensive. I have a example on a i7 with a kind AMD card, everybody here stood with they mouths open. It is really really expensive here. Oh, also if I buy from USA it is like 25% tax and like 400 usd for shipping.. -
If you simply have a preference for Nvidia, you can have one, you don't necessarily have to justify it. But writing a post like that, makes you look stupid, since it's completely irrelevant to current AMD GPU, both in terms of hardware and in terms of software and even relations with game developers.
Anyone who makes a decision based on a past experience that is irrelevant today would be considered a moron. -

Don't worry, I shall tempt him to the dark side, mwhahahaHAHAHAHA *cough* *cough*

Uh... isn't the GT 130M an MXM 2.0 card? Let's not confuse MXM-III with MXM 3.0a or b.
Unless I'm wrong, the 6770M isn't even an option. Am I wrong?
RE: GTX 260M, it's as fast as the 6770M and 555M anyway. It may even win some benchmarks, because of it's higher bandwidth. -
I don't prefer ATI because of the drivers, and nVidia have ALWAYS been working without any issues for me, drivers update etc. etc. I had one laptop with ATI card, and that gave me issues. However, hulawafu77, your post did really make you sound like a ATI-boy.
Kevin, there are people with my system using 6770M on their systems
If GT 555M were available for my system, no dubt I would get it. However, I as HTWingNut suggested, I got a offer for GTX260M. But I have not decided yet. -
Oh okay. The GT 130M must've been in the early gen of 3.0a standard.
Also, anyone who tells you AMD's current drivers are bad is fooling you. The 6970M is my first experience with the red team, and I have no complaints. AMD releases a new driver monthly, and has done a good job with optimizing the 6000 series. -

Let Me Put This In All Caps So You Can See It.
Gtx260m Will Not Fit.
Any Alternatives For HD6770M 1GB GDDR5 ?
