Anyone with a G51vx-rx05 or similar system playing BFBC2?

If so, how is it running for you and what settings?

I asked in the Can My Notebook Run It? thread a couple of days ago, but still no reply. :(

My CPU meets then minimum settings (Dual Core 2.00GHz), but that's definitely gonna be my bottleneck.

    Specs:
    4Gb RAM
    260m
    2.00GHz dual core

Will I be able to run it on low at 1280byXXX with playable framerates?

Yep, you'll be just fine. Medium settings shouldnt be a problem at all.

I was running the BETA on mine and the latest patch they released made it totally enjoyable and playable on my G51.

And, for comparisons, I've played the retail Steam copy a few hours this afternoon on my m11x, don't have it installed on my G51 yet, and it's done ok. And, should run quite a bit better on our G51's. Really enjoying the game so far, single player campaign has been fun

EDIT: The CPU in the m11x I've been playing it on is only a 1.3 that I've got overclocked to 1.6, so your's will be noticeably faster

EDIT 2: Your CPU will overclock a bit too just fine, check out the G51 optimization thread if you haven't already, tons of GREAT info

Agree with overclocking the CPU, I've run the beta at 2.4 and it was well playable on medium and high settings and there's no doubt the retail version will run even better. Wish I could offer a better opinion but haven't gotten around to picking up the game yet.

Well I have having temperature issues last night. My THRM was hitting 99C, GPU at 95C, and CPU at 85+, and this was after I reapplied shin-etsu thermal paste very very thing. I found the very thing doesn't work so well with my G51. So I opened it up yet again and reapplied it again a bit thicker and didn't spread it by hand. GPU max 89C, THRM max 80C, and CPU max 73C -- with an overclock to 3.3ghz. This game is really demanding on the system, but I am hapyp with my temps now. Also since my system is running cooler, the game was running better and smoother. I did another fraps test, and now I'm getting Avg FPS in the 50s.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    27722, 500436, 0, 185, 55.396

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    10053, 181541, 0, 191, 55.376

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    21295, 298902, 43, 153, 71.244

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    24217, 442639, 0, 98, 54.710

These were all from full servers, 26-32 players on average. The min fps was either when something was loading or exiting game, etc. My fps never goes below 35, even in the most intense battles. I'm usually in the 40s during intense battles.

I can't tell you what my frame rates were but I'll do a test later tonight and report back. I could tell you that I was running the game on all high settings (no AA, AF, or HBAO) at native res and the game ran really smooth (a lot better than the beta, not just a little) in single and multiplayer. I know that different maps may net different framerates so I gotta check that out as well but it's very playable on high settings.

Yep, I had the same issues... a thin coat of AS5 did NOT work on my GPU, I needed a thick coat.... ultimately ended up using MX3, but, there is definitely a gap between the GPU and heatsink on our G51's. Glad ya got it working better! Took me a few tries!
