I'm playing it on my T61p and found that it runs smooth with no commandline commands, yet i have this tradeoff of smooth as silk gameplay, but massive texture pop-in everywhere, i can fix the problem by allocating more RAM to the GPU with commandline "available vidmem 2.0", so that the textures have a little more wiggle room, but i only have 2GB RAM, so it introduces stuttering. Any way to fix it besides getting more RAM in my case?

I think more RAM would be your only real solution. 2 GB isn't much for gaming when you're running Win7, especially GTA4. Allocating system RAM for video makes the situation worse since Win7 is already using plenty just to run in the first place.

Thought so, well, i'll go out and get an 8GB set or just a single 4GB DIMM to add up to 5 total.

Hmm, yes, you've been planning that for a couple of months now.

Anyway, when you do get some more RAM, good luck with the game. I hope you do better than I did.
