I just finished Call of Duty 4, my first first person shooter, and I really liked it. Now, I want to play another game in the same genre. What would you recommend?

Half-Life 2 is a must play for anyone looking for a good FPS, the mods aren't bad either.

Get Call Of Duty 2. It's the same thing...in world war two.

    Also...

Crysis is a fine shooter, if you can run it well enough to appreciate it. People just seem to hate on it more than usual due to the fact that they thought the gameplay would be as revolutionary as the graphics...

It's got plenty of good ideas, the nanosuit is sweet and the free roaming nature was done in Far Cry, that much is true, but seriously. No other FPS seem to bother trying anything other than linear gameplay.

    Halo series, bioshock.

    I didn't like half-Life 2.

    :[

But counter-strike source, day of defeat source, and many other HL2 mods are amazing.

Be careful with the PC version, apparently it's more than a little buggy...to say the least. But it's good if you get playing it.

Any really good realistic games like Call of Duty 4? So far, I'm probably going to get the Orange Box and Bioshock.

The battlefield series and its mods ares great if youre looking for a tactical multiplayer fps; Im currently playing BF 2142 and am enjoying every second of it. Other multiplayer fps games Id suggest are Team Fortress 2 and Halo 2. If your looking more for singleplayer depth, Bioshock and Half Life are some of the best.

Orange box, all HL2, Episode 1, Episode 2, TF2 and Portal all in one box. It's a must have for anyone that likes first person shooters.

UT3 I'm not impressed by it, the game play is harder then the original UT.

Thanks a lot! Don't know about Gears of War though, don't really like games with any bugs. Oh, and on a sidenote, is Oblivion worth it? And if it is, should I first play through the original version or install Shivering Isles first?

Get the Game of the Year Oblivion. It comes with all of the expansions, which don't default the original story, just add to it.

I`m surprised nobody mentioned Timeshift. The ability to slow/stop/reverse time is one of the coolest things yet.
Also ,may I add to the list
    -BlackSite Area 51,
    -Bioshock,
    -UT3,
    -Orange Box(all of them, YES),
    -Bioshock(maybe...),
    -Quake 4,
    -Doom 3(+expansion),
-PAINKILLER(original+booh+overdose-probably one of the coolest games I`ve ever played..)
    -COD4
-and yes,lastly....crysis for the visual effects

I recomend you get the orange box. It has a lot of first person shooter games, at least one of which I'm sure you will like. And as many have already said, Half life 2 is great.

LOL! Although Oblivion is a great game, it is not a first person shooter. Unless you grab a bow and arrow. And it is a bad first person shooter at that. Wo de tian!

Alot of these games people are mentioning are going to to be way different then the realistic shooters you are looking for.

I do not have, and can't attest for the Rainbow Six series.. But some friends are addicts.

I hear it's good at least.

    what about Tribes:vengeance?
anyone looking for something new(not really since it was released in 2004), different and really good should try this game, it's no half-life but i found the single player to be really fun(story sucks though), with a good amount of variety and some hot vehicle action. graphics as good as UT2004 and sound's ok, but the best thing about it is that you can fly around using jet-packs, which as you might imagine is alot of fun..
so if you're looking for a decent sci-fi fps with something different, you should try this..

Decided to go on a game-buying spree. Gonna get:

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts (Don't have the original, does this expansion add on, or should I also get the original to get all the missions possible?)

    Ghost Recon: GRAW 2

Oblivion IV with the Shivering Isles expansion pack

    The Orange Box

    Decided not to get:

Bioshock: Heard extremely positive and negative reviews

Gears of War: Too many bugs

If there are any other really good games that I missed out on, feel free to post.

Well I like it :)(I mainly play mulitiplayer FPS games so...). Since its a free game(1.7GB dl I believe), there is no harm in trying it and you can see how well you like mulitiplyer FPSs(let the game "sink in" before making up your mind)

Gears of War is not FPS, it's TPS (== third person shooter). Lost Planet is also TPS.
As for FPS, i don't have anything new to add, but I'd also recommend The Orange Box, Bioshock and that free FEAR Combat download.

Opposing Fronts is a stand alone expansion, so you don't need the original to play it. However, you can't play missions available in the original game, only the ones in Opposing fronts. You also can't choose the factions, Americans and Wehrmacht, that are available in the original. If you get both games, you can play with any faction and all missions are available.

Just found out that I have almost no space left on my hard drive. I do however, have a empty 40 GB partition. Is it possible to run programs off that partition? Also, I have decided to go with either Company of Heroes or Command and Conquer 3. Which one should I get?

I think Company of Heroes/Opposing Fronts has quite much to offer to the RTS genre (the older game, Dawn of War from the same producer was similar but in a futuristic setting). In CoH/OF you really need to think your strategy and react quicly to the varying situations, you can't just overrun your enemy with superior army. Also, if you like WW2 war movies, like 'Saving Private Ryan' or 'Band of Brothers', you are going to love this game.
C&C3 on the other hand is more of an traditional RTS game, not bad, but nothing we haven't seen many many times before. But some may still prefer C&C3 over CoH/OF, because it's simpler and a lot easier to master.

CoH and OF offer so much more, that I'd choose either (or both) of them over C&C3 anyday.
