I just ordered my Core Duo/GeForce Go7800 laptop and I can't wait to go mobile with HaloPC. Anyone else that has my configuration care to chime in about performance? I'm assuming it will run awesome, but HaloPC can be weird sometimes...

Halo is a little laggy on my desktop and my laptop. It is okay, but you probably will not be able to snipe very well. Make sure you search for low ping servers.

I'm running Halo on my X700 256MB - running at 1280x1024 maxed out is no problem. Halo can be a little weird sometiimes - fluctuating framerates mostly. But on a Go7800, there's nothing to worry about, there isn't a setting it can't handle.

Yeah I just started getting back into it as I have gone through 2 xbox 360's and gave up on that idea for a little bit. It runs ok on my desktop, but at low settings.

It runs on my laptop fine at medium settings (800x600) and I get a steady 60 FPS, and i have an x600, so there should be no problem for you. Halo looks great even on lower settings.

I'm just the same as Chaz. 7800's would have no problem.

When I said that Halo was laggy for sniping, I was talking about online play. However, with my X1400 the regular campaign is flawless. The graphics look a lot better than on my Xbox. If I knew that I was going to play online with halo I would have considered the 7800 if it truly made sniping better. I always assumed that that was just the online servers fault. It is like this on my desktop, that is why I assumed that.

There are a couple clan servers I play on that stay lag-free even with 16 players, so I'm not too worried about that. I know that my desktop had zero problems running the max rez with all the eye candy - that had an AGP X800XT. I would even host 4-player voice chat via Xfire without it interrupting gameplay. I guess I'm just still not convinced at how well a laptop can play games. I know I won't be convinced until I actually play it on mine, but thanks for the input.

To this day, I don't understand why Microsoft chose not to fix the HaloPC engine to provide smoother play. It's a shame that Halo Custom Edition is so superior, but no one plays it. It's so dang smooth...

I know that the original Halo is going to be available for download via Xbox Live for the Xbox360 soon and I am hoping that they finally make it Live compatible. They haven't said they will, but to be honest, if they brought back Halo1 with full Live support, I would pay just about any price to play it. Naturally, it would be even better if it had the new maps and weapons from HaloPC. I hate Halo 2 so much... what a pile of shovelware...

Anyway, I don't want to get going on that tangent. Mobile Killtacular, here I come!

FYI, I just got my e1705 today. I reinstalled a fresh copy o'XP and the tweaks'r'us 7800GO drivers. HaloPC on max settings at 1600x1200 play like butter, even with crazy 16-player rocket matches... I haven't even replaced the 512MB of RAM yet! CoreDuo+7800GO=OMGBBQ!

I play Halo on my v4000t which has the x700. I play it on max setting with no problems.
