The only convincing real time ray trace I have seen is in very bare simple situations, such as a room with one light and a ball which even then tanked a 2080ti to about 10fps given the number of effective ray cast needed to pull off a convincing look. Minecraft and quake all looked great with lots of ray cast for instance, but those are very simple games. I cant really notice it in any aaa games like tomb raider, unless its a very certain situation, and even then it isnt convincing.
- all done with a gtx 970! I wonder how that would compare to a quad sli 2080ti
I have a feeling that alot of what turing offers is mainly driver and firmware optimizations for it, or am I wrong? I would love to see some comparison of how ray tracing is done with newer hardware in real time vs older hardware such as the 970 above.

You can certainly utilize as many RTX GPUs as you need for rendering, Nvidia themselves will offer a 40 GPU RTX blade servers, but of course this will require proprietary drivers and software:

Edit: Ok, I looked up the specs of this Orion setup. Pretty much what I expected:
- Two water cooled NVIDIA RTX Titan with 24GB GDDR6 VRAM connected in NV-Link for incredible gaming graphical performance, or three water cooled NVIDIA RTX Titan run independently for computational/rendering operation.

havent read the fineprint cuz its a tiny weeny bit out of my financial league

I think it's out of most people's financial league ;-)

I had 8 1080ti to one computer but they where mining for me. 8 1080t's with 4gb of Ram and a celeron cpu.

Nice. I mostly used to mine ETH until the price has dropped. It was fun experience, even dealing with various issues like video card thermal pads leaking silicone all over motherboard from all high temps or seeing how fast the cards fail when you don't provide enough cooling to run them constantly. Sadly the price of electricity here made it unprofitable very shortly after prices of currency dropped.

lol you guys...im glad that all this cryptomining craze lost most of its relevance now.

Yea, me too. It really sucked for people who were trying to buy 1070's for actually playing the games. The price of used and abused 1070 cards on eBay (something that no sane person should ever buy because of higher chance of failure and short warranty) was higher than the retail prices on new cards ;-)

Any Quad 2080 TI SLI ray tracing results? Most convincing and complex real time Ray tracing?
