The real FX570, as we all know, is in essence a 8600GT DDR3.

However, FX570 on a 14" T61p is nerfed, so it cannot compare to the DDR3.

But the discussions usually end at that...

What I want to know is, how does it compare to a 8600GT DDR2?

And in addition, how much better is it compared to a 8400GS if it is not on par with a 8600GT DDR2?

    Thanks.

It's slightly slower at stock clocks than a 128mb DDR2 8600M-GT would be, as it has 11.2GB/s of memory bandwith as opposed to the 12.8GB/s of memory bandwith that the DDR2 version has. If both are fully overclocked, the 570m can get to 14.4GB/s and the DDR2 8600M-GT can get to 17.6GB/s. The difference at stock clocks will almost certainly not be noticeable at resolutions below 1440x900 or 1280x1024. However the fact that it only has 128mb of video ram pretty much limits it to those resolutions, so in essence it performs on par with the DDR2 8600M-GT. It is much faster than the 8400M-GS, as it has more than twice the shading power and higher memory bandwith, as well as significantly higher fill rates.
