Hey everyone! I am a huge Monster Hunter fan with this particular series stealing upwards to 1000 hours or more. I mostly played PS2 and psp monster hunters, but stopped when they switched to nintendo Wii (Tri) and Wii U for Ultimate. Why? Tri was a disgrace (severe lack of content) and Ultimate fixes it and it's actually a good game, but I don't own nor plan owning a Wii U for now.

So I was bummed after watching one of my favorite series just fade for now. Was waiting for a next gen version of it... when suddenly...

Monster Hunter Online for PC using CryEngine 3! Not only does it look stunning, but this previously chinese game has been confirmed to come to US!

Check out the amazing trailer, and thanks to the use of CryEngine 3, I can flex the muscle of my awesome MSI GTX680m barebone :D

Any fans out here? It could be interesting to form a guild of sorts. :)

I've only played some of Monster Hunter on the PSP, but the lack of a second thumbstick was really limiting there. However I really liked the amazing amount of items players could gather and craft and the hardcore nature of the whole game (especially the combat, which was made even harder by the lack of independent camera movement..). Definitely looking forward to this one :p.

Totally! I am so very much looking forward to this. The good thing about PC is that we can customize and get whatever gamepad or keyboard combo works best for us. I was never really that bothered by PSP's lack of second stick, mainly because I adapted to only change my camera with the L button to see what was infront. It's not optimal but it made me forget the issue of no second stick.

Man this is definitely the best gaming news of the year for me, so far :D

    developed by tencent games??
all they made were pretty average mmo games...hopefully capcom will sort out the problems

I kinda expected the game won't look good due to the fact that the game had very stiff animation and it will only look worse when it runs on a high graphic background. but overall it is looking quite good, better than i expected

Wow I didn't know they are going to make Monster Hunter into an MMO.

Well Monster Hunter had stiff animations? Considering it's a PS2 game, they had quite a sort of animations for all characters and monsters. Very few games were as animated for it's type of action game.

The thing is, they haven't changed their animations much over the years, so yeah I get what you are saying with stiff. Still, if capcom shares all their resources, there is no reason for Trecend not to make a good lookalike. They wouldn't be starting from zero. So while their MMOs are average at best, they have now a wealth of resources for this particular franchise, coupled with a very capable engine.

I really look forward to it! I am cautiosly optimistic :) And as you said, hopefully capcom will fix any particular or glaring issues.

Well we don't have much details yet. From the looks of it, it might be a compromise between MMO and the original MH formula. Maybe quests will be instanced with limited people, otherwise it can get very hectic. It would be unfair for both the monsters and the players haha. Imagine 16 dudes vs a simple kutku, or 20 rathalos vs 4 hunters.

I think it will just be similar to the monster hunter frontier, basically a PC version on the monster hunter series.
It's a good choice considering how 4 players can already abuse some dragons to death without problem with stun lock, too many players would kinda ruin the monster hunter game experience too imo. I don't want the market economy to be inflated etc by all other players.

I think I used stiff wrongly. What I meant is that their actions are kinda slow but precise, a good player can use his experience to do a full charged great sword onto the monster's head when it is charging towards him etc.
but on a good graphic engine, some of these actions like the rolling may look kinda strange.
