    I'm using Win7, 32 bit.

Basically when i plug my HDMI lead from my laptop into my 50 inch LCD, i get picture but no sound, but with old 169.04 drivers the sound works, but i have to select it in the Sound properties in control panel. the HDMI output for the TV.

but with any other driver iv tried, i dont get the option to select the sound output for HDMI...

I can guarantee that with Dox 185.85, audio out via HDMI works fine. I use Vista x64 though.

Just go to playback devices and set HDMI audio out to the default and it should work.

    Hmm.....what about with other drivers?

I suspect that it may simply be due to the fact that your computer doesn't have HDMI audio capability rather than any software issues

As stated in my first post, the 169.04 drivers work for audio, but none of the newer ones :(

Bah sorry......well, there really should be no reason why Dox 185.85 prevents sound out so I think it may be a compatibility issue with your computer's hardware more than anything else.

What videocard do you have? IIRC, the newer drivers aren't really designed for older cards like Geforce 7 or older.

Dox drivers dont install Nvidia sound drivers, try an official driver from Nvidia's site.

i also have the same graphic driver and problem. i read in a german forum that it has to do with newer nvidia drivers because of some "handshake" problem. i tried some older drivers in xp and vista.these are my current results:

    Working
old drivers until 182.50 (XP, Vista)
among the newer drivers, only 185.70 (Vista, got driver from Asus website)

Never had audio working in windows 7 till now. maybe i'll give the 169.04 driver a try. by the way, which notebook do you have and can you post a screenshot(with audio working) of the sound properties like i did in this thread

Iv posted a screenshot earlier in this thread, it doesn't show the HDMI output at the bottom like your screenshot does in your thread, it used to with old drivers, then you just select that and click "Set Default" then the audio is outputted to the TV.

Thats all you need to do on your's.

I have an Acer 6930G same gfx as you.

is it a realtek audio device or something else? i tried the 169.04 driver. audio actually works with it but sees my graphic card as some "g96..." card. also get some video stutters while playing 720/1080p movie files.
