I was just thinking with the movies like Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Hitman, Doom, what other games do you think would make great movies and what actors would you like to see play the characters?
For me, I would think Half-Life 2 would be a great movie, except Gordon never speaks. But that would be fine if he did, or even funnier if the whole movie went through with others speaking for him like in the games.
And just the opposite. Is there a great movie or TV series that you think would make a great game? I'm not talking about a cheesy marketing game, but a real quality game.
Riddick is a great example of this. I loved that game. Wish there were more quality action/RPG type games like this. The atmosphere and story were pretty fun, and it wasn't too difficult to finish.
I think the "Bourne" series would make a great "Splinter Cell" type game. Great story and character development is already there, and there'd be so many possibilities.

Movies into games: Heat, Seven Samurai, Chinatown
Games into movies: Bioshock, Fallout, Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver. -
Oh yeah Bioshock all the way. And from the looks of Uncharted it looks like it was a movie before a game.
-
I want to see a Tie Fighter movie. That would own.
-
GTA? Maybe? or NFS, but that would look like the fast and the furious.
-
I'd like to see Max Payne movie, but only with great story such is in computer game. With great producer , it would be a fantastic thing. I'm surprised that nobody ever thought about project like this, because this is a really great base for a good movie.
Syberia would be good too. -
-
The Bourne Triology
-
Movie --> Game Groundhog day....might get a little repetitive tho
Seriously tho id love to see Fight Club as a game....in a GTA-type gameplay it would be awesome.
Games to movies...generally i think dont they work too well...tomb raider/alone in the dark/resident evils were really poor. I cant think of any game to movie translation thats worked...enlighten me if u know o any (havent seen Hitman) -

Half Life (1 and 2 of course ) , Prince of Persia, Legacy of Kain ( soul reaver series and defiance) , Max Payne, and my all time favourite STAR CRAFT !
-
I liked the Tomb Raider movies even though they were a little tongue in cheek. My wife actually enjoyed them, and she doesn't play or like video games (except Ms. Pac-Man).
I really enjoyed the Resident Evil movies too. That last one was pretty cool too (Apocalypse). They are a great zombie / fantasy / sci-fi universe. I couldn't stand the Resident Evil games though. -
C&C would be good too. I can see R. Lee Ermy as Col. Burton. And wouldn't mind seeing more of that Brunette in C&C 3 cutscenes (grrrr). -
i think the legend of zelda would make a good movie, nothin intense but itd be worth watching.
-
Does animation count in this thread? I'm personally wondering if they ever make the Hellsing series for PC games, although I imagine that will be extremely difficult. -
To Movie: Warcraft Universe, Starcraft, Beyond Good and Evil
To Game: 300
But then again... Movies or series becoming games most of the time do suck.
Transformers, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribean etc. -
halo 1, 2 and 3 into a movie would be great! i think... a totally action movie
-
game into movie max payne
-
i think fear would be sweet
-
Why not Duke Nukem?
-
Hey all you Max Payne fans
http://imdb.com/title/tt0467197/
There was also a short thing about it in GI's calender, apparently they got Mark Wahlberg to voice him -
-
I heard a rumor of a Prince of Persia movie, I'd like to see A KOTOR based movie (it would never happen though), and both Starcraft and Warcraft movies, maybe a CnC movie, and Deus Ex!
EDIT: Prince of Persia is set to come out in 2009, but no one is cast yet, and the writers strike is still going. -
The thing about games like Max Payne and Half-Life is that the games themselves have such great storylines that I don't know if a movie would give much more. Perhaps Max Payne would work well with the bullet time thing, if movies are still using that.
An OTT character that can be put into more flexible situations is more what I think suits games movies more. Duke Nukem would be the main one I'm thinking of. Load it full of quotes and Duke cliches, make up any outrageous situation involving ridiculously hot top-heavy chicks behaving in a ridiculously stereotyped fashion and some kind of alien attack and you've got one helluva fun movie (if a bit low-brow).
Although... a Command and Conquer would be pretty good. There's the barebones of a story there in most of the games, and you could easily have a movie set during one or other of the Tiberium wars that uses the basic principle without being constrained, as would be the case if you wanted to do Half-Life 2: The Movie.
Any games you'd like to see as movies or vice versa?
