Sorry if this seems old and pointless waste of a thread, but I was wondering if any 285m gtx owners have tried the newer drivers and have gotten any of them to work.

I just read about the 296.10 driver which supposedly increases skyrim performance by ~40% so. Really tempting. I'm still stuck at 186.91 because the constant crashing hasn't been fixed for years for 285m. Also they seem to be suggesting to update drivers to fix the glitches with 1.5 patch, but aha, I can't. =_=

Those improvements u see listed in latest nvidia drivers changelog are aimed to fermi gpus (gtx4xx/5xx).
However I advice to update to latest drivers for different reasons, mainly updated or new features, better compatibility and bug fixes.
Also how come your card keeps crashing? I have a gtx280m in my old m860tu and I keep upgrading drivers and using it as usual, never experienced anything like that.
Are you sure everything is working good?

Yeah I thought something like that. :p But it should still considerably improve performance from my current drivers.

The crashing is specific for the 28 5m, and nobody knows the answer for this problem besides staying in old drivers.

I see, so most users with gtx285m are experiencing those crashes?
Have you tried a fresh install of windows along with the newer drivers?

I don't know if most users do, but I've certainly read quite a bit about this and the problem seems to be the same for everyone.

Yeah I've tried a fresh install of windows and going straight to the newest drivers and everything, didn't help at all.
