I'm looking for a new FPS game to replace CS![]()
Any nice games out there that a CS player should like?

I am a big fan of Quake 4...
The best hardcore FPS imo...

I play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory , its free online, and great. It was stopped halfway through production and so they made the online game free for download and play, although its an old game...i still like playing CS 1.6
-
Ill second FEAR combat, and Quake Wars is coming out soon, so be ready for that. I would download the free demo for UT 2k4, and then if you like it, then get UT 3.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has kept me busy for a great deal of time

Im looking for something to play in leagues, with a team, I've played CAL-i CS before, and thats pretty much what I'm looking for but in a newer game.
CS:S is a possibility. -
...
personally having played CS since 1.5 and now playing CS:S, I think CS:S is better in terms of...graphics and also i quite like the physics aswell! -
I remember playing CS when it first debut as a mod on my Pentium II 200Mhz, S3 4Mb on board beast of a computer. My, how things have changed.
-
What CS 1.6 players say is that because of the graphics, the hit boxes lag, therefore making the game more lucky than skillful. I say.... Its fun either way, and im good at both games, so i doesnt matter to me. But i would deffinently take CS:S over CS 1.6 anyday. Larger gaming community, etc. But if you go to some of the big LANS in Atlanta, they all play CS 1.6.
-
Ok, total noob question here, I've never modded or added anything to CS, so can someone point me in the direction of a website that can explain how to do the Zombie Mod?
-

Assuming you have CS Source, you look for a map that stars with zm_
the most common one is zm_lilpanic You download all that stuff and there you go. -
Call of Duty 2 is in CAL and TWL. Fun game, good players.
-
in source, the AWP is AMAZING. You deserve to try it out (makes the AWP in 1.6 seem broken). Also deathmatch server's should get you up to speed. Gun game Mod's are fun too along with some other weird mods. One thing about source is that there are more noobs than 1.6 so it may seem easier to you in pubs. Some of them don't know how to shut the hell up in server's so voice_enable 0 will come in handy.

battlefield 2142 is awesome! fast pace, vehicles/air vehicles, and much more to come!
-
make sure you also dl the 2.6 and 2.6b patch. -
Im not looking to play in public servers really, I'm actually looking for a very competitive game like CS 1.6, that is based on skills more than how fast your computer is. I want something that isnt based on luck. I heard about BF2, BF2142, I might try it, maybe CoD... Anything else? I really like the gameplay of CS 1.6 and I'd like something similar.
-
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is a very good game. COD2 is good but honestly if you like 1.6 then it is hard to find another game like it.
If you want competitive then check out the Cyber Ameteur Athlete (CAL) and see the games they offer and see if you like any of those. -
You could look at the CAL website...except that it's terrible. I registered a month ago and my username and password don't work. Thought maybe the pw was wrong, though I copied and pasted it right out of the confirmation email. So then I did the obvious send me my password, only to have it tell my that my email address was not in the system. What?! You sent me a ****ing confirmation email! Ugh.
Sorry for that irrelevant rant. COD2 is very competitive at the CAL level, and many of the players that I know there don't ever have to play in pubs because scrims with good teams are very easy to find. -
Alright then, to help out choosing one, which one is easy to play online with no original CDkey?
-
COD2 is only $30; spend the money so that honest people who paid for the game don't get screwed because you stole their CD Key.
-
Idiamond, check out War§ow. That game is extremely competitive and is based very little on luck. It's gameplay is more similar to Quake but you may still enjoy it. Best of all, it's free and can run on almost any modern computer smoothly. I think their site is down right now though.
Outside of that, CoD2 is okay. I've never cared for it over the original CoD and its expansion. Hopefully CoD4 brings the franchise back up. -
Call of Duty 4 is going to be awesome from what I've seen of it. You might just wait and get that.
-
-
FEAR Combat : CD Key supplied when registering
Warsow : No CD Key needed
America's Army : No CD Key needed
Nexuiz : No CD Key needed
Urban Terror : No CD Key needed (Quake 3 Mod)
I prefer the first 4 -
COD2 kinda sucks imo, maps are not as good as the first one. Plus I usually get like 25 ping and 200+ fps and its still laggy. Try the rifle servers though, like Rifle 24/7 Carentan. They got some good players on there. Enemy Territory is always fun and free, its fun when your team knows what they are doing. I use to play CS ages ago but find the WWII games more fun. Its more competitive and challenging to use a rifle than spraying and praying with an automatic weapon.
-
well, you havent played with me at CS, cause it has nothing to do with spray and pray

people look at me funny when i perfer the famas over the carbine. sometimes though.
Any nice new FPS games around?
