I may hold onto my thinkpad for the start of the semester because I think the 3870 or more specifically the 9800M GTS will be the best deal available overall. Whats going on with these cards? Will they ever make it into a M860TU in the near future (couple months)?
Now I know not everyone is a fan of Notebookcheck, but if this is accurate, the GTS would be the best deal if it's priced relatively low (I'd say if it configures at least $80-$??? cheaper) in comparison to the GT.

are you sure that's for laptop cards?
-
they are all laptop cards, with the "m".

The ATI 3870 is available for order now with the OCZ Whitebook (re-branded Arima W840i)... its in crossfire configurations.
The 9700M GTS (no GT) is available for purchase no as well with certain models, mainly Toshiba. It performs slightly slower than the 8800M GTS, but very bang for the buck high-end card.
The 9800M GTS is already available in the new Gateway P FX series going for under $1500 (check Best Buy's site) -

The Toshiba F55 is a 15.4" laptop with a 9700M GTS, dual hard drive slots, and starts at 8.1lbs.
-
For the time being, the fastest card for a 15.4" is the 9800M GT (or 8800M GTX).... and the 9700M GTS.
The ATI 3780 was not ready (software config) for the Clevo M860TU, but they are probably working on it... and/or they are working with the new ATI 4870 that is about to come out. -
Because HD48XX is more powerful & it's the only chip that can gain ATIs mobility reputation back -

I expect it by Q4 2008
-
Q4... one of the 9800M it is I guess
Unless its right at the beginning of OCtober. -
Since when did HP began giving that GPU on its notebooks? I reckon the last time I saw, the DV7t has a 9600mGT while the HDX comes with a 8800mGTS card. -
Any realistic timetable for the 9800M GTS, ATI 3870
