Anyone here play any of the simcity games? Such as simcity 3 or 4? I've been a huge fan of the franchise since simcity 3 and the best game out of em is 4.

Simcity 4 is still the best city simulator around.

It is going to be like that for a long time I am afraid. The reason EA hasn't come out with another simulator is because of the steep learning curve. They need to take a chance.

Tired out after 4 years, but yeah it's one heck of a game (Simcity 4). Simcity Societies was just a disaster.

I must say, out of all them, I preferred Sim City 3000 the most. Sim City 4 is much better in terms of options and actually running a city but I never got into it, especially because of the steep learning curve.

Its great as long as you get the "deluxe one" which is simcity 4 and its expansion pack, it really needs the expansion pack. Also maybe the network addon mod as well, unfortunately in simcity 4 mass transit works a pretty stupid way (sims take the shortest route over the quickest route by default, leading to long commute times/abandonment) and the network addon mod fixes this.

Apart from needing the expansion and daft sim mass transit AI the games really great! Theres lots of options, tons of buildings and the graphics are pretty good for a 6 year old game, they will be even better now as the settings can be cranked up to high easily on todays hardware.

I love SC4. Cities XL looked like a promising replacement, but it turned out to be junk (rather than growing organically, you zone your cities' income areas etc).

Incredible how long SC4 has been chugging along... I remember playing it in 2003 during my freshman year in college. It's 7 years old now.

I also loved those missions where you drive around in the city and have to do certain objectives, it gave me a personal sense of how well/poorly I designed my roads. Whereas before it was like, ahh my sims are complaining about the roads, who cares, but now it's like, wow, my roads DO suck.
