    Hi,

Im in the process of selling my m14x, simply because i want something more portable.

Now the LG p330 is a 13.3 inch notebook with 1.7kg weight that has a 555m which is only a bit weaker than in the m14x...

Is there anything similiar coming out in the next few months, or should I just take the lg p330 for now?

Now I know of lenovo for example bringing out the y480 and the y580 but the 14 inch y470 was never available in germany..

So are there any 13 to 14 inch notebooks coming out with ivy bridge and a dedicated gpu such as the 555m or above?

    thanks

No one knows. We of course have Ivy Bridge + next-gen GPU machines on the horizon, but very few announcements have been made; probably because of non-disclosure agreements between laptop makers and Intel or the GPU makers.

All we can do is wait. I hate waiting.

well, I know you are looking for a very light weight laptop, but I carry my m17x everyday and with a quality bag which supports your back, it feels like nothing, I am 6'1", so anybody can do the same :) also, I was like you, considering super portability is more important than anything, but then I decided I want the best GPU out there, and this was the best choice I ever did regarding a computer, I am not a gaming freak (I game an hour everyday) but I am very happy that my lappy can handle anything I throw at him with ease :) think about it :)

AMD will be releasing their "ultralights" with their IGP. The ULV APU's are apparently supposed to have the power of the current gen Llano GPU's (see my sig for benchmarks), perhaps a bit more, and the 35W variants will have 50% or better performance than the Llano. So if they can squeeze a 35W quad core Trinity in a 13" form factor you'd be golden. Should be near 6750m or 555m performance in an IGP. They are supposedly going to be adding some dedicated GDDR5 vRAM for the iGPU so that should help matters even more.

If you plan to play anyway with the power cord plugged in, consider a solution like a sub-notebook (12-13 inches) + an eGPU connected via the upcoming PE4L v2.1. You should easily match (and probably overtake) mid range gaming notebooks with near to none hassle :)

hey guys thanks for the many answers

@HTWingNut thats really interesting, ive been really curious about these lano notebooks and how they perfom, although i havent seen many notebooks out there which use them, except maybe HP?

@SimoxTa I have been thinking about getting an eGPU solution it sounds really great in theory, but this doesnt work for many notebooks does it? dont they need a certain kind of connection like thunderbolt for example?

You can achieve the connection via Express Card or via mPCIe slot (almost all Optimus enabled notebook can do eGPU on "resource side". You should check the main thread sticked here above for further infos. About Thunderbolt it will be for sure the future, but for now there aren't any affordable solution yet :(

For the performance results check my sig (with a cheap PCIe 1.0 1x connection ;) )

HP, Asus, Lenovo, Dell Vostro, probably others all sell Llano notebooks. They aren't that predominant but they do exist and are good sellers, primarily because they are a budget machine.
