I was able to run FF8 on my ancient XP machine with 64mb of shared VRAM and 512mb RAM, but on my modern Mac running Vista it all goes to crap.
Well here's what it looks like:

Just wondering of there was any way to fix this?![]()

Emulate it, or if it's the PC version, use VMware & XP
epsxe 1.5.2 will run FF7/8/9 perfectly (going to play 9 now just because you reminded me of the good ol' FF games)
when I last tried to install FF8 PC on my computer I gave it up due to a lot of crashes in XP SP2 and instead emulated my PS discs. -
It's the PC version. Using VMWare Fusion would slow things down to near unplayable, and I don't have XP...
I'll try just emulating it though. Thanks for the tip. -
Just finished it a few months ago, the only way to fix this issue is using software render (if my memory served me correctly)

I'll second ePSX... its the best one to make a 100% emulation of the PSX.

Do note that playing FF8 PSX version emulated will mean you lose the excellent re-rendered FMVs in the PC version.
One of the main advantages of the PC version over the PSX version is the higher resolution movies, which would be a shame to miss.
And speaking about running the FF8 PC version under XP, I strongly recommend using Virtual PC ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2-3199-48A3-AFA2-2DC0B40A73B6&displaylang=en), as it is free and from Microsoft, the people who made the XP operating system. -
link1313,
Please dont post images of that size. They make it very hard to view the thread. -
Looks like Virtual PC doesn't work with Windows Vista Home....
